The Clan Invasion era was the *best thing* to happen to Battletech. It introduced the legendary idea that maybe fights could resolve in a reasonable timeframe, with relatively fragile mechs throwing down an absurd amount of firepower. Positioning became the central tactical axis.

Weapons are heavy, engines are heavy. Armor is cheap.

There are SW era assault mechs with less firepower than medium mechs have post 3050.

Everything in the SW era has a ton of armor, standard engines, and no weaponry. Everything lives forever. Games drag on for ages.

Ok I love Battletech, as a setting, as a miniatures game, as another miniatures game, as a video game, as another video game, etc

but I have to be real with you

i'm sorry, Succession Wars Battletech by far has the worst gameplay of the entire setting.

Ok folks I'm thoroughly convinced now that the mechsplo community is not doing enough with the Battletech IP. I mean COME ON, bondsmen as a concept are RIGHT THERE. they have to do whatever you want and the only honorable alternative is bondsref. Escape or refusal is a permanent stain of dishonor.
