You absolutely need a Canadian work permit if you want to work for a Canadian company, even if you are a US citizen. Yes, a US citizen can likely work remotely for a non-Canadian company without a work permit or other visa, but CBSA will want to see that you are employed.
Do you mean will sponsor you to work with b a country outside the US? Or will sponsor a non-US person to work in the US?
