just as a note blocking someone you followed doesnt forcibly unfollow them, so you gotta make sure you unfollow them before you block, otherwise you still show up in their followers list

healthcare is a right, not a luxury. i don't think people realize when we say "socialized medicine," we mean for them too. there's an ingrained worry that someone else would get something out of it while they themselves don't. newsflash asshole, everyone wants YOU to have access as well.

i have had otherwise reasonably empathetic and intelligent people tell me they don't believe in universal health care, they prefer the system the way it is. this problem runs deep, it's not just conservatives pushing the "private/employer insurance is better" mindset

I have a theory that the US’s lack of universal health care is a big reason for its spiritual erosion. “If a waitress can’t afford to treat her appendicitis, is she really a worthy member of society?” It’s a sick way of thinking.
