Funny how the ones telling us "AGI next year" are the ones selling it.
Yeah, but fatalism is self-fulfilling prophecy if you stop fighting.
I certainly agree that they'll try, but I'm trying to hope for the best while preparing for the worst. I have plenty to be depressed about already, lol.
That's what happens when you're selling a product (AGI/ASI) that doesn't exist yet.
That's just a more interesting story than prosthetic limbs that bring full functionality back to the victims of tragic circumstances. At least as far as Hollywood is concerned.
It only creates a class divide if we don't work hard to make it affordable for regular people.
Both. If it goes right, all of our problems are solved. If it goes wrong, we all die. That's why it's a singularity.
That said, it's much farther away than the people selling it want you to believe.
I'm trying to be Adam Jensen from Deus Ex, but I'll settle for less pain.
π€ Transhumanism isnβt a GOP toyβitβs the future. If Democrats shun it over classism fears, they guarantee the inequality they dread. Embrace the inevitable and fight to make upgrades universal: public good, open access, human rights. Take it back. Make it equitable.

I think the combination of transhumanism and VR will soon render gender obsolete.
Ready Player One demonstrated this even though Ready Player Two then showed how the author missed his own point.
My robo-genitals will be plug and play, lol.
Sci-Fi is often a predictor or even inspiration for future technologies.
Arthur C. Clarke described communications satellites and 15 years later when they were implemented NASA even named their orbit The Clarke Belt.
TASER is an acronym for Thomas A. Swift's Electric Rifle, based on a novel...
To be a reliable generator of utility, I must maintain the system (me) that generates it.
I either need to intentional direct my charitable giving in a way that offsets my unintentional effect on the economy OR only buy stuff from local craftspeople that I have carefully stalked for at least a year.
I'm tired of finding out how gross the actor or CEO I accidently contributed to is.
I've passed the point where it's easier to do the math than remember how old I am...

If you want to remember the alt code for em dash (β), just think about Caribou Lou. π
I used to have all of the time and no desire.
Now I have all the desire and none of the time.
Ugh, I want to try Buddhism but as soon as somebody has a title, be it Zen Master or Venerable, I feel like you've already lost the plot.
For somebody with low self-esteem, I sure am egotistical.
Go join the Patreon. Not mine, I don't have one. Just you know...the one. Join it.
No no no, not the big one, the little one.
"If there are a million different realities, I have slept with your wife in every one of them." Real smooth Xander.

I think zero is the only real infinity.
Nothing is the only thing that never ends.
The rest is bullshit math.

Humanity levels up. The world becomes a dungeon. While others chase comfort, Quinlan Gage rejects the system's shortcuts and evolves by sheer will.

I feel truly "other" to the point that I'm walking a thin line between ego inflation and madness. Am I "special" or just another lunatic?
I need grounding. I need to be seen and understood.
Pascal's Wager is idiotic. Belief is not a choice, statistically speaking you'd pick the wrong god, and simple belief is not the prerequisite anyway...
I'm in this space where I'm questioning whether I'm even still a gamer anymore. I have games to play, ones I was super hype about and never started. I just end up spending my little bit of free time with something passive like a movie or YouTube. Maybe that's just how my depression hits right now.
I prefer paperbacks, but when all these Kindle books are like 75% cheaper and I'm going through 3 books a week I'm gonna end up staring at my phone even more than everybody else...

I'm really hoping my wife will buy me a recurve box for my birthday. I've decided I'm going to use archery when the zombies come. πΉπ§
I've been putting trying out Amtgard. I'm not super interested in the combat aspect of βοΈLARP, but maybe at the very least I'll end up finding a TTRPG group or something.
I don't know if Hynafol or Wasteland Weekend are financially feasible any time soon.
