Normally when someone is this deluded, you'd ask them to name the president to see how far they're really gone

And when Margaret says it (or rather when the narrator describes how it was "the whole of her sermon"), it's "Only connect!"

Oh my gosh. And here I thought it was cringe to sing "Amazing Grace" to the tune of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" โ€“ but that was nothing!

I wonder who "they" are in "conversations they weren't ready for": the kids or the parents?

I have that book but I haven't read it yet! The series is so good: hilarious at times, really touching at others... One of our family favourites.

Me neither. I was actually thinking that (about SC) as I typed my reply.

The Durrells in Corfu. You might not like them for the first episode, but by the second you will love them.

I don't know how you can infer "nannied by a tablet for hours and hours a day" from her post.

Unless you're just indulging in a little drive-by judging?

What a bummer! I saw the whole hour of the moon being gradually shadowed, but just as it's reaching totality (now) it has moved out of sight behind some houses.

I woke up and thought it was 5:30 so I got up to see the lunar eclipse. It was actually 4:30.

It really is an incredible book. I felt the same way about these families. When the one woman (Kara?) was sleeping in her car with her kids in the parking lot of the all-night convenience store, my heart just broke for her.

There is far too much pressure to live your best life these days. Leave me alone and let me live my most middling life in peace, with the colourful miscellany of highs and lows that naturally entails.

I was out walking today and saw a black object in a snowbank. Immediate thought: "Suspicious package -- should I call police? Will they send the Explosive Disposal Unit?" I got closer and saw that it was a printer. Oh well, THAT makes sense, carry on
