Don't think I'm ready to start Ultima VII yet, already playing an RPG (Final Fantasy 7 Remake), and I kind of want something casual and short after System Shock. So time to knock Telltale's first Sam & Max game off the backlog!

Just finished the System Shock remake. Great game, highly recommended, although it *does* have some "old school" aspects to it that could have been improved a little. Had to do a few internet lookups because I had no idea what to do or where to go next a few times.
Started Final Fantasy VII Remake yesterday, another one I've owned for years...trying to whittle down the backlog. It's visually awesome, and I think I'm getting the hang of this new combat system...but I'm on the fence about it not being turn-based combat, it doesn't feel like FF to me.
No spoilers, but you actually get an answer to this at the end of the game.
Rolled credits on Resident Evil Village. Really enjoyed it, more than expected, the reviews did not lie. Definitely recommend.
I liked it because I played it 100% in VR, and that was a joy. I wish I could play more βregularβ games in VR. My entire time in Cyberpunk 2077 I was thinking βman this would kick ass in VRβ.
Just gonna leave this hereβ¦
At a Gartner conference in Phoenix. First flights on Southwest since the assigned seating change. Not sure what all the outrage on TikTok etc. is about, it worked pretty much like every other airline.
Hell yes! #NineInchNails on
Itβs been around for a few years, but my insurance wonβt cover it. I had it done once, no dilation is probably worth it so I can actually read things for the rest of the day.
I had to buy a second 360 too, but didnβt bother me bc it was so good. Iβm also one of the 23 people who actually liked Kinectβ¦especially the XB1 Kinect. π€·ββοΈ
Waiting for Nine Inch Nails to startβ¦I am *so* tool old for this! Ha! At least I had the good sense to not get floor seats, I was in their mosh pit at Woodstock 94 and this old body could not take that now! The mind is willing but the body is weakβ¦
Could not justify buying one. Bought an 8Bitdo adapter so I could use my Xbox Elite with my Switch 2β¦but its grip buttons are easy to press too. But they are removable, my daughter always takes them off.
Been playing Resident Evil Village this week. Only prior I've ever finished is RE4 but really enjoying this. The slow creepiness transitioning to big shock make-me-wince set pieces are excellent. The lighting contrasts are great in HDR, recording doesn't quite capture it...
Finished Mario Kart World today. Generally fun but also frustrating at getting blasted by devastating items as punishment for being in the lead, as usual w/ MKart. "Finished" = gold cup in all Grand Prixs at all 3 speeds, what I've been doing since the OG SNES game. Free roam challenges, nah.
Titanfall, hands down. Only non-MMO I played every day for more than a year.
I tried to jump on Xbox Cloud Gaming twice yesterday. Once waited 2 minutes, hot βsorry taking longer than expectedβ, waited 2 more minutes and gave up. Second time, told it was a 6 minute waitβ¦no. If has to just turn on like a console, every time, or itβs NOT a substitute.
Man, cloud gaming really sucks. How deluded are these companies that think we will give up our consoles and PCs and just pay them a subscription, when itβs at best a coin toss if the cloud game session will even start? ππ€
Finished New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe yesterday. Started the Luigi part today because I thought it was a second game, but it's just shorted levels with low time, a bunch of "challenge runs". Not my thing, so nah. But one Switch backlog game knocked off the list with my new Switch 2!
Green Day.
Finished Assassin's Creed Mirage and its DLC tonight. Definitely preferred both Valhalla before it and Shadows after...Vikings and Ninjas are cooler! Could be the Baghdad and desert environment, kind of dull. Standard AC experience though, shorter than most modern ones (not a bad thing).
Yep, 2023 I believe.
Started playing System Shock Remake tonight, really enjoying it. Ironically I have the original big box version sitting right next to me, but I've never finished, abandoned it early on multiple times...no nostalgia to push past the old SVGA graphics, I suppose. Remake will solve that problem.
I really enjoyed Avowed, definitely worth a play.
Game #3 of 2026 complete, The Expanse: A Telltale Series. Rather short for a Telltale game, only took me six hours including the DLC episode total, about half as long as most TT games. Good story if you like the show, but probably lacking if not. Not their best effort imho, call it a 7 of 10.
Thought I was done with Telltale's The Expanse. Turns out I got a DLC when I bought it and didn't realize, looks like it's an entire second and unrelated story...
Bought Bruno Mars tickets for the family todayβ¦DAMN concerts are expensive these days! Maybe letting the streaming business model hollow out the revenue stream for artists wasnβt such a good ideaβ¦ π€
Iβm on a GLP-1 and have lost the taste for coffee with real creamer as a side effect. Powdered still works for me, but then I need better quality or flavored coffee (I always used hazelnut creamer to make crappy coffee taste better).
At least three games coming to GamePass this month I want to playβ¦the backlog treadmill is going to kill me!
Finished Ultima Underworld. I have no idea how I did this in the 90s without a walkthrough! Garamon's bones look like any other pile of bones! How the AF am I supposed to know to say "talismans" and "lava" to Garamon? And several other obtuse puzzles that span multiple levels...ugh!
