I caved and spent 5 hours yesterday searching for books to include, videos of books, pairing them up and formatting the doc for teachers and students to access and the form for voting. Next week I will put up a giant bulletin board to track it.

For the past several years I have done a March Picture Book contest with 16 newish books for my students to enjoy and vote for their favorite. It is a lot of work and I wasn’t going to do it this year but a group of my library regulars asked me about it this week then begged me to do it.

That is frustrating. I am lucky my Primary care doc referred me to PT as the first step when I was having trouble. It did help. But I am terrible about keeping up with the exercises so the knee pain comes back and I start over with the exercises.😜

Friday’s staff training was conducted by the Sheriff’s department on how to respond to an active shooting at our school. It is depressing and horrifying that we have this as PD now. #Edusky #SchoolLibrarian #Teaching #ElementaryEd

Always interesting. The ICE detention center diagram is horrifying and reminds me of slave ship diagrams.
I did get sucked into the women’s sizing changes.

I have such a such a hard time with Newbery winners. I read them and appreciate them but very few of them are huge hits with my students. I book talk them, highlight them, pull them for displays and still no circulation love.

Does everyone feel they must accomplish something over the weekend to justify the time spent relaxing, reading or watching shows? This weekend I did laundry, washed sheets and comforter (this is laundry expansion pack), shopping, cleaned windows and cooked dinner. Now I feel less guilty.

It is a lot of work to keep putting out new books and to keep the genres balanced and the reading levels swapped out by grade but so worth it.
