I'm about this goal

My child was sick all week and my student predicted I would be at home resting this weekend. Prediction accuracy 100% :(
Unfortunately, I was not well enough to help and my youngest had to make his sign alone. But look how well he did! He’s excited to see others out today!
Being a mom in #academia is hard. Finally got to a place where my workload is manageable and now im home with a sick daughter rearranging my schedule. it's always something
I was curious to try this M-index and wondered if it would reflect my commitment to mentorship. Based on my putting in lots of ppl who I know mentor a ton or not so much, it was cool to see this is actually semi reflective of reality.
I was almost 15 min late to lab meeting today after teaching. I got there and the #Nicholaslab was already doing journal club without me. I ❤️ my trainees.
Grant writing had me behind on lots of small but important administrative tasks. I spent yesterday on this to-do-list and got a 3rd done. I call that success 😀
Winter Quarter has been insane. Submitted 5 grants in February and submitting 2 more in the next 3 weeks. That will get me to 9 pending grants. I have about a 10% hit rate so I'm hoping something comes through. I'm submitting grants like I make cupcakes. Lol #scientistswhobake
So amazing seeing my #gradschool mentor and all the faculty who trained me. This really was a homecoming for me to present my research for Loma Linda university homecoming weekend
Happy early #valentines to the #Nicholaslab #scientistswhobake..yes created a new kitchen hack and had a casuality
Recuperating from a crazy week.
Gonna shift focus to a paper revision...then putting in 3 more grants this month. I guess that's one for each week in Feb!
No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.
Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Yeah..it was pretty scary
New data today that fits perfectly into my R01. Took a risk and wrote an entire aim based on data we didn't have. That risk paid off. One more late night. Send good vibes.
Sick child 2 days before my R01 is due. Can't catch a break
Been trying to submit a grant with my postdoc for the past 30 hrs. the website isn't working. Sleepless nights getting this done. #stressed Send prayers and good vibes that whatever the technical issues are they get resolved.
I love when my baby chooses my outfits ;)
When you and the lab manager are #vibin #Nicholaslab
Soooo. Got stuck in an elevator today. A very panic inducing 8 min. Pushed all the buttons. I learned the call button goes straight to 911. I'm a little traumatized cause being stuck in an elevator is a fear of mine.. gonna be using stairs for awhile
What a great @keystonesymposia.bsky.social meeting. I am so energized to get back to lab and apply so much of what we learned. The #immunometabolism community is continually making progress and im excited for the future @tcellogic.bsky.social
The district court injunction that prevented NIH from capping indirects at 15% was upheld today on appeal!

This... I had help doing my SciENcv and it was a nightmare and time suck. It's terrible. Don't wait till the last minute..especially if you have multiple PIs.
I can't stop thinking about lab meeting yesterday. We kicked off the year with practice @keystonesymposia.bsky.social #immunometabolism presentations. I was blown away at the stark difference between my 1st grad students very 1st poster... and this one, likely her last in my lab. I'll update
Been hearing about this study informally for awhile. So excited to read!
First day of Winter Quarter @ucibiosci.bsky.social in the books. I get to teach both undergrad and grad #immunology this Quarter! It's a heavy lift to setup but soo excited for students to discover the magic of the immune system.
Woke up from a nightmare. Thought our -80 went down.. it heated up to 98 degrees...my students and colleagues were trying to help and it wasn't until I realized we were working with a delicase that this had to be a dream and not real... such stressful sleep
Cleaning makes me happy. I need it to function.. that's how. Lol
