Poster for a trans film fundraiser screening. Bold text reads: “Trans cinema needs you! Help STUFF happen! A fundraiser for Seattle Trans Underground Film Festival.” The film being screened is PONYBOI. Below a still from the film showing two characters in a tense, intimate moment, text provides event details: “AMC Pacific Place 11, Tuesday, 24 June @ 7:00 PM.” A smaller note says “Spread the word, invite your friends, & wear a mask! LINK TO TIX IN BIO.” The STFU (Seattle Trans Film Union) logo appears in the top right corner. A colorful, filmstrip-like gradient frames the design.

Matching poster design with the headline “Trans cinema needs you! Help STUFF happen!” followed by the text “Can’t make it to the screening but want to donate?” A large PayPal QR code is centered below for direct donations. The STFU logo is in the top right corner, and the bottom reads “More festival info dropping soon.” Background design features the same filmstrip aesthetic with a starry, gradient sky.

We have exciting news and this will come as no surprise to our newsletter subscribers. The four of us met while screening for Translations Film Festival in 2024. When we learned that Three Dollar Bill Cinema was combining the Trans Film Festival and Queer Film Festival, we decided to continue the twenty-year tradition of having a dedicated festival for trans voices and stories. We need your help making this happen!

We are hosting a fundraiser at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24th. It's a screening of Ponyboi (2024), a thrilling neo-noir that takes place in the span of a single day, starring writer/producer River Gallo and Dylan O'Brien. Gallo plays Ponyboi, an intersex sex worker who becomes entangled in a drug deal on Valentine’s Day that goes terribly wrong, and their resulting odyssey through the wilds of New Jersey. It's a story about friendship, handsome strangers, survival, and finding beauty in even the darkest moments.

If you're free, we'd love to see you there, for a screening of a movie that we love, with the people we're in community with. Tickets cost $20, with half of the proceeds going to STFU. We need to reserve 61 tickets by June 9th in order to move forward with the screening. If you make a reservation, you won't be charged unless we meet that goal.

You can purchase your ticket at the link in our bio! Can’t make the screening but want to contribute? You can find our PayPal QR code here or follow the link in our bio. Spread the word, friends!

We hope to see you at Ponyboi, and at the film festival this fall — more info coming soon.

PLAYLAND (2023) directed by Georden West, conjures a time-bending night in Boston’s oldest and most notorious gay bar. Featuring an eclectic ensemble of queer performers, including drag icon Lady Bunny and POSE’s Danielle Cooper, the transdisciplinary film sees music, dance, archival footage, tableaux, opera, and performance art layered into an ethereal piece subverting all boundaries. The work of queer fantasy and history takes place inside the empty husk of the Playland Café. Although the cafe shut down in the late ’90s, PLAYLAND stages one last bawdy night on the town for the ghosts of their LGBTQ+ ancestors.

Our friends at NWFF generously provided a promo code. Please use STFU at checkout for a discount!

While this screening does not require masks, we are asking for STFU folks who would like to attend with us to wear a mask. We keep us safe!
