Isaiah 9:2 - Hope for Those in the"Deep Darkness" - Ghosts, Ghouls and God Isaiah's prophecy speaks of the light of God shining upon the people living in a land of deep darkness—the afterlife realm of Sheol/Hades.

In the Nine Lessons and Carols service, a reading from Isaiah 9 contains a cryptic phrase, "The people who lived in a land of deep darkness-on them a light has shined."

At the other end of the temple is the statue of the god Bel, and on the floor are footprints in the dusty ashes.

One of the very earliest "ghostbusting" stories is found in a little known part of the Bible and includes Daniel (of the "lion's den" fame), the babylonian king and the god Bel.

It uses a now familiar way to distinguish between the paranormal and normal.
