love this, Tom! Grackles are my fave with their oil-dipped heads & modem-tone calls!
Grackle I am a poet at the height of my powers says the light purple sponge covered in little mozzarella shreds on its arc into the garbage I am an emerging poet says the woodpecker frightened by the glinting CDs on their strings too afraid to breach the treeline I am a prize-winning poet says the unfried catfish closing its primeval jaw irrevocably around the bright orange bait I am a poet says the common grackle accusing, lamenting

2 books went into another printing on Day 1 of AWP! Congrats to Hannah Grieco for seeing First Kicking, Then Not reach an unprecedented 5th & become the best selling book in Stanchion's history! & three cheers for @FBereaud! His novel A Question of Family went to 2nd just a month after publication.
I too remember the earlier, woke wars. tons of spent microaggression munitions strewn about everywhere, friends crying out for God as they were slowly cancelled...look, if you weren't there, you'll never understand

so glad to have seen you!
Please donβt make me take things back to Albany! Iβll probably give away copies of Dreams & Letters to be honestβ¦

"Where else, we ask, to put the feelings, pending revolution? A scary movie shrinks the worldβs horrors down into, not manageable exactly, but bounded, feelable parcels. In a landscape dense with quiescent cultural products, horror is anti-anesthetic."
Find me tomorrow at AWP! Iβm off to a museum now but I really donβt want to take copies of my book or chapbook home so please find me if youβd like a copy!
