Has the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) weakened over the last decades? In our new study, we combine state-of-the-art CMIP6 models and observation-based estimates of the air-sea heat flux in the North Atlantic to show that the AMOC has not declined since the 1960s! 🌊

A vast, star-filled background is punctuated by a luminous nebula that stretches across the image in swirling, billowy forms. The nebula’s predominant color is a vivid green, with thick wisps of gas and dust appearing translucent around its edges. Within these glowing clouds, patches of orange and gold radiate more intensely, creating bright highlights that contrast with the surrounding green. Several distinct stars shine through in the center, some tinged with turquoise or blue-white tones, and exhibit starburst diffraction spikes, drawing the eye to the nebula’s core. Thin, smoky filaments and occasional bubble-like shapes appear to be carved out by the stars’ powerful radiation, giving the nebula a sense of motion and depth. Countless smaller, dimmer stars scatter across the black expanse, emphasizing the nebula’s grand scale and the vastness of space.

Beneath the emerald veil of a cosmic meadow, stars bloom like blue lilies scattered across an infinite field. Each wisp of green whispers secrets of creation, while golden glimmers hint at life’s unending dance in a celestial garden, where time halts in awe of such beauty.
