All my undies are merino wool lol. I love them.
No cotton insert because its a lightweight fabric on its own. Also, merino wool is a natural fiber, so you dont need an extra gusset.
Totally! This is why I made like 6 mockups before using my niiiice fabric haha.
I would like to try & make a pair with a knit binding on the legs instead of the fold over elastic because it would be way softer. But then you have to worry about the legs slowly loosening over time. Ive seen some folks use a clear elastic inside a knit binding, but I dont want to buy more elastic.
Its really not hard to make undies! The hardest part for me was truly just gaining the motivation to draft the pattern. I ended up tracing a pair of undies from icebreaker, then added a little seam allowance. The only other thing that was hard was figuring out how I wanted to do the elastic lol.
