Ah, my favorite World Party song! Thanks for these.
It certainly was in the mid-80s when I stopped in for an evening.
Pretty sure this was only printed as a handbill. Cool, though. Here’s another one from a few months earlier.
Good riddance to that awful little man.
Best news I’ve heard all day. Good for the people of Minneapolis - they got this done.
That was lovely. Even through the so-so audience recording I am feeling all the feels. Thanks for posting this. Cheers.
I’d follow you twice if I could.
Excellent reporting. Thank you for following the money, and for connecting all of the players.
He was such a fine composer and arranger. I especially like the album Textures, from 1987. He will be missed.
I bought 2. Is that enough to bring the strings, singers, and Stinson? Please?
Excellent.

It was a good day for this great blue heron, and a not-so-good day for the fish.

First a nice nap, then world takeover. 🤓
Indeed!
Ah, thank you!
Here’s a beautiful owlet, as seen at the Avian Conservation Center, Awendaw, SC. This may be an Eurasian eagle owlet, but I am not certain.

A small yellow-olive bird with a prominent white eyering. Occurs in forests, shrublands, parks, gardens, farmlands, and urban areas. Eats fruit, insects, and takes nectar from the understory to the top of the forest canopy. Frequently travels in vocal and active flocks, moving in swift bouncing flight through the canopy. Song and calls are high-pitched twitters and ‘chwee’s. Native to Asia; introduced to the Hawaiian Islands where it is ubiquitous in wet and dry areas from sea-level to the mountains.

This is just so shocking to me. I watched Sesame Street as a preschooler when it debuted in 1969, so I don’t remember a world without public broadcasting. What a disgrace.
Mine, too.
Yes! That orange is beautiful.
Striking and familiar backyard bird throughout most of eastern North America; also occurs in the southwestern U.S. and fairly extensively in Mexico. Crest, large red bill, and long tail render this species distinctive even with a poor view. Male is entirely red with a black face. Female is brownish overall with redder wings and tail. Usually seen in pairs or small groups near dense cover, especially thickets near forest edges. Frequently visits bird feeders. Listen for high-pitched metallic chips and series of loud, sweet whistles.
It’s always a delight to spot a female northern cardinal. Her male partner was nearby but camera shy.

@willbunch.bsky.social is speaking the truth here. Read and learn, then raise hell.
“Yet, if we don’t raise our voices immediately, that ability could disappear quickly. The moment to scream “Never Again” is right now, not during your grandchild’s history class.”

Beyond the 60 Minutes payoff & Colbert cancelation, an unprecedented capitulation: as part of merger agreement, new parent company agrees to install an official to "monitor bias" at CBS’s news division. CBS news will essentially be state controlled media.

Maybe someone could just ask this guy if the idea of a homeless shelter on part of a church property is the reason he wants to seize the church. Unless I’m missing something, that seems to be the case, yes?
The purple honeycreeper (Cyanerpes caeruleus) is a small Neotropical bird in the tanager family Thraupidae. It is found in the tropical New World from Colombia and Venezuela south to Brazil, and on Trinidad. A few, possibly introduced, birds have been recorded on Tobago.
This male purple honeycreeper is a beauty.

Large, lanky, long-necked white heron. Size and black legs help separate from other egrets. Widespread and fairly common across the globe. Bill color varies across range: always yellow in the Americas, black in breeding season elsewhere. Occurs in any shallow wetland, including ponds, marshes, and tidal mudflats. Slowly stalks prey in shallow water. Often seen singly, but sometimes gathers in large numbers where food is plentiful. Breeds in colonies, frequently mixed with other egrets and herons.

This is disgusting. Even in the era of no shame, it’s shameful. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/17/u...
A large, black-and-brown myna bird with white wing patches, yellow bill, and yellow legs is perched atop a wooden fence near Kona, HI. Gregarious and often found in noisy flocks. Aggressive, often driving away other birds. Can be found just about anywhere but the densest forests. Native to southern Asia, where it is among the most common species. Widely introduced elsewhere in the world, including Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii.
This is a common myna bird, spotted near Kona, HI. I was struck by its large size and loud song. They are strangely beautiful birds, unlike any others I have seen.

A Java Sparrow, perched in a tree in late afternoon, near Kona, HI. The Java sparrow is a small, plump finch with a very thick pink bill. The black head and white cheek patch are distinctive. Juveniles have a similar color pattern but are grayer. Social; forages in flocks and roosts communally. Forages in rice fields, grasslands, meadows, and urban and suburban areas (in introduced range). Call consists of one or more musical chirps. Native to the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali, where now quite rare. Introduced widely across the globe including India, Philippines, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and the Hawaiian Islands.
