Should you be interested, and I'm happy to give more info if you wish.
The route I was referring to is sealed tarmac, free from barriers, and wheel chair friendly.
Likewise for the buses, they go down to kerb level.
If you can drive, that's also an option.

Brit here, we have a 6 month old and we regularly head out on the bus as a family, in preference to taking the car.
There's been a lot of improvements to cycling recently, with a decent cycle route going all 6 miles or so into Oxford city.
Come the spring we'll put the little one in a bike trailer

His tweet is desperate stuff...
Claiming that... If you support bike lanes than you are unconcerned about Trades persons...
His whole online personality seems to be about turning issues about transport into a wedge issue, where anyone who supports accessable cities is an evil tyrant

John Stewart - Campaign for Better Transport
@bettertransport.bsky.social
John Stewart fronts this account.
You'll see plenty of other examples of his toxic nonsense on X. The platform seems to have radicalized him into increasingly extreme views.
Is he really a suitable person to be a trustee?

And to your point, I don't think anyone is referring to vegetables as 'meat'.

So, for example, a glamorgan sausage can't ever be described as a sausage because it doesn't contain animals?

Oh, please. Stop it with your hysteria.
No one, literally no one has ever brought a veggie bacon because they want to eat pig meat.
Do you really think people are stupid enough to be confused, and that the EU needs to step in to stop people buying veggie food instead of animal derived products?

It's preposterous to think that someone wanting to eat pig would buy veggie bacon.
So, I think we are in agreement, why on earth are the EU getting involved with labels of veggies food.

Yes, that's kind of the whole point of the article.
Do you think that anyone, ever, has brought Veggie Bacon thinking it's been derived from a pig?

If you are #1 for reasons of protecting jobs...
Why not just avoid chains as much as possible, and shop in Independent shops?
Self service is merely one of a very long line of efficiency measures, it just so happens to be the efficiency measure that you have become aware of.

Landscape ecological restoration. It can be done but we need to get a move on. This is Carrifran where the sheep were removed to allow this native woodland to take over.

Thanks for the update.
So, that's a new cycle lane in construction between Radley Road, all the way through to Peachcroft roundabout, on the North / other side of the road to the existing path / cycle route?
Considering the narrow and no cycling sections of the current route, that would be fab!

Indeed, it is good news.
Cycling on the footpath out of Abingdon, that some impatient drivers seem to think is a cycle lane, can feel like dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.
Anyway, came here to suggest you complete the consultation with any comments, recommendations that you might have.

Before the Congestion charge, it took between 30 minutes to an hour to get into the city.
Now, it's a reliable 30 minutes, and the buses are on time.
I could drive if I wanted, but I prefer not to.
From my view, better options to avoid driving offers greater freedom than car dependency.

No, cleaner air is one of the advantages of giving priority to public transport.
Another advantage is more frequent, more reliable and faster public transport.
Better public transport gives people more options.

Yes, I referred to the permits in my last post.
There's nothing stopping you from taking a different route that avoids going through a bus gate.
Oxford city has been congested for years. There's no room for new roads, or more cars.
Therefore public transport needs to be given priority.

Because the traffic was flowing freely.
Previously you could see exhaust fumes reaching up towards us.
If you are really interested, I believe there are pollution monitors in the area. You could look this up.
As a driver I welcome roads with less congestion and pollution.

That's not true.
When the bus gates are active, you'll be able to drive to wherever you choose.
However, at peak times, instead of driving across the city you'll either need to go around the ring road, or use a pass.
Exceptions.. blue badge, buses, carers.
Option to avoid driving are improved.

Okay. If you think moving around the city is exclusively about driving, then I get your point.
However, the congestion charge has reduced congestion.
At the weekend I walked with my baby in a pram in St Clements.
Previously standing traffic pumped out fumes at pram height.
Now, air is cleaner.
