Big love to @dionwintonpolak.bsky.social for his stellar editing skills once again, helping me to get over the finish line!
However, any doubt I might not come back to writing middle grade fiction was washed away today. Iβve done a fair few book conventions but Iβve never had such an engaging, insightful and inspiring audience as I did today.
I never said anything before doing it because I was very nervous about how this was going to go because this was well outside of my comfort zone. However it was a fantastic experience and I honestly didnβt know what to expect but after today Iβm sad I have to take a break from writing these books.
So after four years of blood, sweat, tears but also a lot of fun and laughter my next book 'Mystery of the Midnight Cartographers' is out. To celebrate I was invited along to do my first ever school visit on launch day.
The adventure four year in the making continues tomorrow...first review for my new book and sequel to 'Trail of the Cursed Cobras'
Go on nominate a good book!
Today on the blog: thoughts on how make a Star Trek workplace comedy work, and how to make it very much *not* work, as we take a look at #LWD 1.3: "Temporal Edict".
Congrats on hitting ten years!!

And it's done...been a long, tough road but my new Middle Grade book is finished as of today. Out next month
Been properly beaten down by the inner critic over the last few weeks, which has bought work on my final draft to a standstill. Back working on it now. Honestly the only way I've found to get through it is to just keep showing up.
Will do buddy!
Arrived in Harrowgate last night for this weekend's Thought Bubble Comic Festival. Already caught up with some old faces (you know who you are) looking forward to meeting some new ones when I hit the convention centre later today... #comics #indiecomics @thoughtbubbleuk.bsky.social
I can fix this in three words Dallas,Bobby,Shower (if you know...you know)
Thanks!!!
Wish me luck. I've got the whole weekend and Monday, book off work to go into my final edit for my latest book. I have coffee, doughnuts and a shed load of sass...By Crom,I'm going in!!!
All this, plus a bunch of mysterious murders, chair-based cringe comedy, and our speculative thoughts the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic and Avengers Doomsday!

Well I got the manuscript back from editor and started working through it. One final pushβ¦almost there for my next novel.
On saying that Iβm excited and looking forward to meeting and introducing the world of unseen shadows to more readers. I'll giving out a free leaflet giving an exclusive look at βMystery of the Midnight Cartographersβ the sequel to my #middlegrade #urbanfantasy novel βTrail of the Cursed Cobrasβ.
So Iβll be exhibiting my literary wares at the Northampton Book Fair tomorrow @northamptonshoe Bit nervous as itβs been a few years since Iβve been behind a table. #books #bookconventions
Many thanks for the mention buddy!!
Ah thanks Ian!
Yes. Yes it does
Always loved his line βI win. I always win. Is there no one on this planet to even challenge me?β That hint of disappointment when starts that line just epic. Also loved the fact that a villain took over the world but within days of doing it was bored
