Kentucky leader says tech groups pushing for expanded tax breaks for data centers Developers announced plans for a 153-acre data center campus in Louisville last month in part due to Kentucky legislation exempting sales taxes from computer and other gear.

In 2024, Ky. lawmakers approved tax breaks for data centers--the server farms that handle digital data--in Louisville. Months later, developers unveiled plans for one.

There's now interest in expanding the subsidies to rural Kentucky, according to the Senate president.
