Probably true, but apparently the software has made massive leaps since December 2025

Tesla's self driving mode is crazy good right now. I rode in one a few days ago, and was very impressed. Too bad that Elon is a psychopath.

The inherent problem is that vetting groups is incredibly difficult and time consuming, which political campaigns do not want. ActBlue is just a payments platform to process donations. I know they are working on tech fixes to make the donation info anonymized.

Is that act blue? Most likely a democratic candidate sold off their donor list to pay down debts.

Weird how "build more housing" works in theory and practice to address a housing shortage.

I very much enjoyed hearing the academic perspective on high skilled immigration. Although the math formulas flew over my head, the core topic of immigration is something that I encounter every day, both in my job as a software recruiter and as an elected official in East Palo Alto.

Great seminar at Stanford today on US immigration policy.

Part of my plan serving on City Council in East Palo Alto is to take over Palo Alto and rename it West East Palo Alto. Territorial expansion is all the rage these days.

30/40/60% AMI.

We need to rezone East Palo Alto too. We have 1 acre lots zoned for SFH - 7 homes instead of 60. One half acre lot near me is zoned for 1 SFH and an ADU. Know any good books on zoning reform? Our council needs to read them.

Look at the rest of EPA’s IZ Policy. One apartment building has a 25% IZ Mandate. 135 units demo’d and now the vacant lot is empty until this $40 M fee is resolved

11.01.2026 18:47 πŸ‘ 14 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I told our city staff that our IZ was exactly like doctors bleeding out patients in the 1800s, thinking they were helping cure disease. β€œWe’ll cure our housing shortfall by making housing more expensive” makes just as much sense as opening a vein to cure a fever.

I’m on city council and was vice mayor when this happened. EPA wasn’t going to spend a dime defending terrible IZ policy. We have a review of our current policy shortly, and will end it or dramatically lower it. Let another city spend five years in litigation.

East Palo Alto records another murder-free year, signaling shift from violent past The small Peninsula city hopes to shed its ’90s β€œmurder capital” label

www.mercurynews.com/2026/01/05/e...

East Palo Alto finished 2025 without a single homicide, marking the second murder-free year in three years and reinforcing signs of a lasting departure from the violence that once defined the city.
