also just putting it out there that this is definitely more nuanced than a headline, one guy's experience will not hold 100% true for everyone, and that no shit exceptions exist. the point is i think there's some truth to his words even if it's not The Truth(tm) or even Your Truth

also there's no getting around the fact that online artist spaces tend to have considerable overlap with neurodivergence. on top of sometimes taking 10x more patience to navigate, sometimes sticking to passive voice just plain DOES NOT WORK. sometimes you HAVE to escalate to fix things
i won't lie and say i always succeed at being nice. if i'm not getting paid corpo money i'm not gonna tell someone they're being a dick in sanitized corpo speak. but all it really takes to get labelled as a grade-A bitch sometimes is putting your foot down and you have to be able to live with that
the problem with moderating a lot of online artist spaces from my experience is that a lot of online artists are conflict adverse to the point that even mild differences in opinion feels like walking on eggshells. being a mod means being the asshole in someone's story sometimes
turns out the easiest way to dodge imposter syndrome is to tell yourself that "yeah i'm ass but thankfully everyone agrees with me so at least we're all on the same page"
