If you have an electric or hybrid car, challenge your county clerk’s office and write your probably spineless politician. If they are going to charge $100 for what runs your car, why not charge the fossil fuel drivers instead, to encourage them to consider supporting greener technology?

Granted, electric cars and their lithium batteries are not perfect. How about running on solar and wind? But that is another discussion, and electric and hybrid cars are a big step in the right direction. Look at your renewal forms before you pay.

I was getting ready to renew my Tennessee car tags for 2026 and was surprised to see a $100 "Electric Car Fee" added for driving a Camry Hybrid. This is proof that the majority of politicians in Tennessee (MAGA Republicans) are totally bought by the fossil fuel industry.
