Chinese Coconut Cream Buns, AKA these things:
On Saturday I tried my hand at making a couple of new pizzas with a slightly new recipe, and for a changed tried taking some photos with my fancy-shmancy Sony camera that I normally use for streaming; pictures turned OK-ish. (The pizzas weren't my best visually, but taste-wise were great)
I'm all for this - my only qualm is that I was hoping we'd be able to move beyond the 9 Realms with the next GoW game and explore another section of the Earth/a new pantheon. (But maybe we'll still get that here?)
Not enough people talk about how great Neon White is. It's a game about trial runs where you use guns to platform yourself around obstacles and it's incredibly fun. Highly recommend it.
When it's Pokemon Day but also you can't stop thinking about Resident Evil.
They said it couldn't be done
Honestly my single favorite announcement from the Pokemon Direct was that Wind and Waves are coming in 2027; last time that we had a Pokemon game announced this far out was Legends Z-A, which ended up being my most-liked modern Pokemon game
As much as the core gameplay of the DLC was on the repetitive side, I appreciated just being able to spend more time with Z-Aβs friend group; I can only hope that Gen 10βs will be as fun as they were π
6. I rolled credits on Pokemon Legends Z-Aβs Mega Dimension DLC!
Hell yeah, looking forward to it!
I don't even stream on Twitch/YouTube anymore, and I am still thrilled to hear this
I'll reach a point where the juggling act of me recording podcasts and game dev stuff isn't as tricky as it currently is now - but until then, I'll be like the tooth fairy of Respawn Aim Fire, appearing every-so-often to bring good tidings and moneys βοΈ(3/3)
I'm not leaving Respawn Aim Fire (nor am I closing the door on appearing on other peeps' podcasts), I'm just taking more time for myself to really hone in on some recent projects that have come my way, and invest more deeply overall in the future of my career. My hope is that eventually, (2/3)
Hey hey - if you listened to yesterday's episode of Respawn Aim Fire, you'll know that the cat is out of the bag: as a result of me wanting to focus more deeply on my current game dev ambitions, I've decided to move away from being a regular, weekly host on the podcast.
Rest assured: (1/3)
Lots to talk about on this one, including an important-ish announcement from yours truly π

UPDATE: it was the most 6/10 poutine I've ever had; not the best BUT also it was a much smaller portion than it first appeared to be; I didn't have any trouble scarfing it down
I got Poutine at Costco for dinner; hereβs hoping I survive βοΈ
To paraphrase a friend: stay on the path, make good things. Indie has always flourished in the face of AAA distraction. Times are bad, but let others deskill, pivot to nonsense or chase impossible outcomes. People really like playing videogames. Suits forget that every 6 months or so.
You know what rules? Road Trips! Come hear Brian and Max talk about the joys of hitting the open road in a motor vehicle:

Man what a horrible waste; Bluepoint was responsible for so many great remasters, and it felt like we were in store for a fruitful future of new, original games from them
I put a lot of effort into the Games to Know Me By segment; definitely one of my favorite things I've done in the show in a while!

-A Link to the Past,
-Ocarina of Time,
-Twilight Princess
(Ocarina was a toss-up between it and Majora's Mask; both are equally very nostalgic for me)
BOY
Bonus points if the protagonists start the game off wielding random kitchen appliances and sports equipment they "borrowed" from their parents, because they have nothing better on-hand (Persona 4 also gets bonus points in this regard!)
I'm a sucker for RPGs where the protagonists are neither "destined," nor have any connection to other, important figures from the game's lore; I like it when the heroes are just a bunch of everypeople that got roped into saving the world by circumstance (Persona 4 being a highlight example of this)
Something I've been thinking about more is that, yes old games were pumped out because of insane labor crimes *but the art still exists* Unlike today where we are still putting humans in a meat grinder to make something, but that something is valueless ephemera from gamefied gambling houses or multiplayer games that live for less than a year and then die with no way to ever access them again I don't justify Chrono Trigger putting people in the hospital because I can still play it, but I can at least still fucking play it
Been thinking about Highguard and the impermanence of games these days (which is to say, moreso that usual)
I need some energy to prepare pizza night; itβs time to go cosmic
