While gas prices alone won't mode-switch most people to bikes, there is potential that those who are more on the fence ("biking sounds nice but I don't feel safe doing it") may become more vocal about wanting more options.

Cities should absolutely meet the moment and not wait for this though.

One of the arguments the Class Is and AAR put up any time anyone talks about freight rail electrification is that there's no electric locomotives designed for US/NA freight service. While on the surface this claim is true, it's also not a big deal

To prove it, let's talk about this fucking thing

Re-upping because it looks like it’s been showing up around downtown. DM me ASAP if you see it.

I took this picture on Weds (it’s on East Lake, across from the library and next to the Coliseum building)

The mural was gone when I dropped by the library today.

Just your irregular reminder that wind, solar, thermal and tidal energy is far cheaper, and not at the mercy of madmen with lots of bombs.

With gas prices soaring, some people might search for cheaper transportation options. In many cites, a bicycle is a cheap and easy way to get around gas free. Give it a try.

In St Paul it's gone from $2.90/gal to $3.40/gal since Monday at a station near me. I'm thankful that I don't have to drive much and when I do I can use the electric ones from the @hourcar.bsky.social fleet.

Light trespass from space. With LEDs and batteries getting better there's no way this is cheaper than just using those. πŸ”¦

It’s hard to properly convey the lunacy of these proposals to people outside aerospace.

Reflect wants to put gigantic mirrors in orbit and beam down sunlight at nighttime.

SpaceX wants a million more starlink sats.

If either of these actually happens, space will be unusable.

Neighborhood Watch stickers are in hand! Want one?

For every $10 you donate to standwithminnesota.com I will send you one!

DM me a screenshot and an address where I can send them. Don't want to send your address? No problem, DM me and let's figure something out.

Hear directly from Aliya Rahman, who was brutally pulled from her car and assaulted by ICE on her way to a doctor’s appointment, on the importance of extending the pre-eviction notice to 60 days. We are proud to have passed this policy today and are calling on Mayor Frey to sign it immediately.

As Bike Cars Overflow, Caltrain Bans Large Bikes and Panniers - Streetsblog San Francisco New rules heavily restrict the types of bikes Caltrain users can bring on board. Years ago advocates warned Caltrain that they weren't allotting enough bike space on the new trains

This need to be called out at perpetuating sexist policies that privilege bikers without child carrying, errand running responsibilities. Caltrain would never consider banning kids from trains, why is it ok to make it impossible for parents who travel bike to use the system?

I still haven't gotten around to buying another car in 3+ years. Renting a car or using @hourcar.bsky.social has filled in the few times a month that I have not found a viable alternative to driving since our regional transit isn't as good here. I've saved around $400/mo at least.

i haven't purchased a car yet and have been renting a car as needed.

i totaled my 2025 car payment, insurance, & storage and budgeted 2026 renting a car for traveling 3 days, 4 weeks a month and am currently budgeted to save over $5500/yr

ICE detains reporter Estefany RodrΓguez in Nashville - Nashville Banner Reporter Estefany RodrΓguez, detained by ICE with no arrest warrant, may face deportation. Her attorneys seek immediate review of the legality of her case.

ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. She’s married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.

They’ve already sent her to Louisiana.

This green line train has to wait for the left turn arrow and the red light on the bridge over 280. Cmon St Paul, figure this out.

My mom wants everyone to know that ICE still has a shit-ton of people in Minneapolis - and doing shitty things - in case anyone has missed that.

ICE is STILL in Minnesota and STILL terrorizing communities. Reporters that say otherwise are either uninformed (which....) or lazy (which... ) or just repeating regime lies (which... is also extremely bad).

People are still missing, people are and will be traumatized, businesses demolished...

Cannot recommend the Cargo Bike Library enough!!! It was so great to be able to try out a bike for several days to see if it works for us. Even though the Bunch wasn’t quite the right fit for us, it did allow me to get my mother in a bike for the first time in 60 years, which was awesome.

Why is the Minneapolis Affordable Housing Trust fund, that all residents pay for, only available to developers and not to residents especially in emergency? Also think about who would crash out if we even suggested we all had access to a fund we pay for.

A consistent theme across the US is that when new bike or park infrastructure is under construction, people will start using it well before it’s finished because even a 10% complete construction site is safer and more comfortable to bike through than the alternatives.
