WHOA. Camp East Montana in El Paso opened in August and quickly became the deadliest ICE facility, with infamously terrible conditions.
Now ICE is closing it, just as they plan to open up a detention camp nearly three times larger in a converted warehouse just outside El Paso.
So, so instructive to compare media response to Afghanistan withdrawal -- months of hysterical garment-rending & catastrophizing, relentless criticism of the admin -- with the response to an unprovoked, unmotivated, illegal war of aggression, ie, "some critics say maybe Trump should have reasons."

This is beyond a fire alarm fire, and it's the bigger than five alarm fire we have been warning about for more than five years. It would override any protections happening in your state. These books would be gone.
The goal isn't the books. Those are one piece of the bigger erasure of queer people.
Let me be crystal clear on something: were this law to be passed, every one of the 13 states with Freedom to Read laws would cease to have those laws to protect them anymore.
We have poured so much energy into those state laws–which matter, hear me–but they are not going to solve the big issue.
I'm begging my fellow politicians, Illinoisans, and Americans to realize that right now, we aren't fighting over policy or political party.
We're fighting over whether we're going to be a country rooted in empathy and kindness — or one rooted in cruelty and rage.
