I love living in the forest. This is my morning visitor. They must have a den nearby, I love free rodent control too π From counting bats π¦ last night, to watching foxes run by in the morning and any number of local species my deck is a true wildlife viewing platform. Love it. #naturalists πΏ

A neighbour stopped us on our morning walk to say how grateful and thankful they are that our dogs are so well behaved. I said thank you and itβs work. They donβt come pre programmed. And having large breeds makes for extra responsibility. Our good poopers βΊοΈ #dogs #dogsofbluesky

Many cis women deal with hair loss and lack of breast development. I didnβt develop breasts for many years and felt less than. Now I have them and I honestly do not like them. But thatβs just me. I hope you can find comfort in whatever does work for you and wish you the best on your journey.

Pink wild rose blooms with white Thimbleberry blooms in background of green leaves.
A False Solomonβs Seal bloom is featured in a background of Horsetail plants, bushes and trees.
Tiny pink bell shaped flowers hang from each alternate leaf on the stalk of the Twisted RoseStalk plant. Surrounded by ferns and other leafy greens.
A bright yellow 12 petaled flower stands alone in the foliage with a couple of yellow flowers in the background amongst the bushes and trees.
Some of the earlier native blooms from around our yard this year. Itβs will always be a work in progress but worth it. Wild roses and Thimbleberry blooms, False Solomonβs Seal, Twisted Rose Stalk and the oh so useful Heart Leaf Arnica. #naturalists #gardening #flowers #wildflowers

Always goes on the paper calendar and then a big note on the fridge but I might miss those. Alarms. 3 of them: an alarmed appointment on my iPad calendar, one on my phone calendar and the actual time alarm on the phone because it wonβt stop till I shut it off and I can set it for a specific date.

If you like Chillquarium check for Fishdom. Iβve been playing that one for years and never had to spend on it. I play on an iPad now but it was originally released on desktop.

Picked just over 2lbs in no time. I swear the branches said βThank youβ as they lifted up after having so much weight taken off. Just the first skim so there will be a lot of pitting this year. Not my favourite part. #gardening

Guess itβs time to start lightening the load on the cherry trees. I planted one Siberian dwarf hybrid in 2017. Now thereβs at least a dozen of them. We canβt grow sweet cherries in our zone (zone 3) but we can make some spectacular pies. #gardening

βGenocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious groupβ. In whole or in part. It is both genocide and systemic racism.

Indigenous women in Canada forcibly sterilized decades after other rich countries stopped
Indigenous leaders say the country has yet to fully reckon with its troubled colonial past β or put a stop to a decades-long practice that is considered a type of genocide.
Itβs not just old timers. First Nations children are apprehended by the government waaaaay more often the Caucasian children and they are less likely to ever regain custody still. And then thereβs the forced sterilization that is still happeningβ¦. Itβs not over. apnews.com/article/cana...

And we havenβt even scratched the surface. I knew people who grew up in the residential schools. I saw the legacy of the trauma of colonization first hand and you can still see it if you look. We know little of how bad it actually was because we have spent so many years refusing to see.

And it was not that long ago (might still be happening) that we forcibly sterilized First Nations women against their will. Hell the mayor in Quesnel was forced to step down for promoting a book denying the whole residential school situation. We are so far from where we should be.

I have spent years building up our native flora in our yard and the Fireweed has shown an interesting characteristic in one area: multi branching flowers. Itβs always one single stalk of flowers but not these guys. Nature is always interesting. #naturalists πΏ #gardens #nativeplants #bloomscrolling.

The Russula in my yard keep disappearing. I suspect the squirrels. I have even found half eaten Amanita up the trees. They are living the life.
