This is the thing I want to stress to people who are used to the illustrated kids’ book space. You’re used to being done when you hand in the words. In comics, the writing isn’t done until the pictures are done because the pictures are also writing.

The most beautiful book I own - probably - is The Iron Giant by Ted Hughes, a 1968 hardback. I think reading things like this as a child ‘does things’ to a person.

My biggest and pettiest peeve about WH discourse is the pervasive myth that Heathcliff successfully kills Isabella’s dog. Nelly saves her and she’s alive to greet Isabella excitedly later in the book. I’m so sick of he “made a gift of her dead dog to her on their wedding” SToOP
If you approach the book ready to condone or condemn Cathy and Heathcliff as a “couple”, you’re already lost in the moors, man. It’s not a will-they-won’t-they/should/shouldn’t—they ARE. It’s allegorical, babes.

I managed to stay pretty nonchalant about the Frankenstein adaptation discourse but guys….i am getting actual psychic damage from the Wuthering Heights of it all. I’m not talking about the movie guys…like people do not get this book and it keeps me up at night!!!!!
