WB never should have merged with Discovery. Netflix shouldn't have either. These deals keep getting waved through. Studios should be treated like sports franchises. Limited. No overlap. Real competition.

As someone who spent a decade making shows for Paramount: why not just make new content?
This won't create profit. It's just going to lead to more cuts and less original content on streaming services that keep raising prices.
This is bad for workers and consumers.
Ellison will pitch tech synergies - whatever that means - he is just putting two unsuccessful media companies together.
Netflix, Disney, and YouTube are in a better position moving forward. Especially if the AI bubble pops and Oracle stock tanks.
Obviously Netflix just made the smart decision by passing on Warner Bros.
They stepped aside and let David Ellison overpay. Now one of Netflix's biggest competitors is buried in debt AND Ellison still has to write Netflix a $2.8 billion check for the breakup fee.

Just got word: another Garrett Graff audiobook I edited is up for Book of the Year (Audio Publishers Association).
That's 3 for 3 now. Turns out great source material + talented actors + solid editing makes for award-worthy audiobooks 😜
But seriously this book is worth the listen.
Stop looking at the analytics. They won't tell you what to make. They just tell you what the algorithm wants.
Make what moves you instead.

When sending something to a client and you're not sure it's good: remember it's your first draft, not your final answer. Their feedback will tell you what's working. You learn more from their feedback than from spiraling alone. It's just a conversation starter.
Stop letting other people's opinions kill your ideas before you even try them. Those people that shit on your ideas also shit on themselves when they were kids. Just like everyone.
If the creation brings you joy, keep doing it.
Officially cancelled Spotify. Moving to records and Bandcamp to support artists I love directly. We'll see how it goes.
Hardest part will be audiobooks. I've been using Spotify since Audible is annoying and overpriced. Anyone have better audiobook solutions?
