Reading the internet (i.e. AI slop) is giving me the ick.
Or should I say: Reading the internet lately feels less like X and more like Y. This isn’t just about Z - it’s about A, B, C & D.

Two people, seen from behind, in silhouette, stand looking at a poster saying "Who's getting tracked? And by whom?" that is part of an exhibition on data brokers.
A new game seeks to get Dubliners to think about who is tracking them online. Two free exhibitions, hosted at the Beta Festival over the coming weekend, also explore the future of data privacy. www.dublininquirer.c...
The amount of people I know who were suspect of Connolly's keepy-uppy video being AI and who looked closer to be sure of it is a good sign for media literacy.
It doesn't matter if you're into food and restaurants, this is a must-read on the importance of fact-checking and subject-matter experts (and a mini exposé on how a particular food enterprise in Dublin is capitalising on its absence in Irish media). www.allthefood.ie/single-post/...

With Meta launching a lab focused on “Superintelligence” — the new buzzword for “AGI,” itself the new buzzword for “AI,” etc — it’s worth noting that AGI is a flawed goal. Here’s my general-readership piece for @techpolicypress.bsky.social on the matter: www.techpolicy.press/most-researc...

The great thing with Signal is that not only is it more secure and operated by better people, but it's also flat out the better product in terms of usability and aesthetics. Also no weird AI bots, solid desktop version, and great videoconferencing.
You can be incredibly famous & successful, stunningly beautiful with a hugely powerful husband & still be vulnerable to any silly decision being weaponised in the perennial sport of tearing down women. And most of us are none of these things, that’s what scares me

The last thing I'll say is that Science Gallery paid and commissioned artists for 3-5 exhibitions every year. This is rare these days, especially in the science engagement space.
