A-Rod looks insanely tanned.
Don't think that's good for him.

Mr. Joshi,
I really look forward to your articles and your different media participations, especially in these confusing times.
Just wanted to say that.
I pretty much know what The Economist's position is going to be about something like this without even reading the corresponding article.
He may not be a favorite in The Economist's executive suites, but Maynard Kaynes' point that he changed his opinion if the facts changed has a lot going for it.
Seems to me that a non-zero number of athletes, tourists and fans just realized that the Middle East is located in the Middle East.
As usual, The Economist sees one part of the world and generalizes.
Other than higher fuel prices, conflict in the Middle East is not going to affect air travel and/or airlines in the Americas.
It's not the same sport, but in Rugby Union, players born in Ulster play for Ireland, be they Protestant or Catholic (indeed, Ulster is one of the four Irish franchises in the United Rugby Competition, versus franchises from Wales, Scotland, Italy and more recently, South Africa).
Wouldnβt bringing Griffin up be as much about the Pirates trying to take off some pressure prior to the Collective Bargaining negotiations?
Met him at Ho Ho Kam Stadium in March 1985
He was quite nice to us kids asking for his autograph
Buddy βMotherfuckerβ Guy.
I don't particularly like caps, but I think it's nuts that the ballplayers haven't demanded a floor (other than the "de facto" floor which would exist if a team had 26 players earning minimum salary).
I understand that this is a matter of consistency, but not having a floor hinders players.
Mr. Lee seems to be in a good place in his life.
Good for him.
Cabernet xyz very much sounds like a stripper name.
What was it that you wrote the other day about the Padres building a very good 2021 team?
Hoskins would be a very good 2022 Phillies throwback.
Great storyteller
As per this rationale, how many teams should MLB have in 2026β2027 ?
I don't think it's just Rubio (i.e., white Cubans can be pretty hoity toitty about this stuff), but yeah, I agree that ideally this type of thing needs to be spelled out.
Just pointing out that from Mr. Rubio's perspective, his background can arguably be El Cid Campeador and Cervantes, with MartΓ sprinkled on top.
He doesn't have to own up to what happened elsewhere in the Americas.
Don't really want to get into American political arguments (on account of my U.S. visa needing renewal soon).
Been to Spain 3 times, though, and people there look pretty white to me.
FTR, not Cuban at all (nor is my wife, family, in-laws, etc.).
I'm Panamanian, where we have a lot more ethnic variables at play.
Cubans (and to a lesser extent Dominicans and Puerto Ricans) have a different path than most Latin Americans, since the indigenous population of the Large Antilles was wiped out.
For Cuba, it was pretty much people of Spanish or African stock.
On a recent Baseball America podcast, they admitted that there are some farm systems which are consistently better than how they are rankedβ¦. And theyβre aware of it.
Guadalajara?
Did you actually read my point ? If not, no reason to engage.
If you did, are we now at the point of questioning who people are attracted to, for whatever reasons ?
I later listened to Professor Robertβs Fresh Air interview. Quite a number of her answers were inconsistent and emotional.
Chronicle of a death foretold.
From a Phillies fan standpoint, itβs a shame the Phils couldnβt trade him and save some money.
There are fights one really shouldn't get into.
IOC, this is one of those.
This reaction by Ms. Roberts' seems a bit odd.
At this stage in human history, it's pretty clear that different people are (often very) attracted to (many) different things.
If a black man was especially attracted to white women, who are we to question that ?
The real question isn't whether the Phillies are spending like big boys or not. They are
The question is whether they should spend just a little bit more, to "keep up with the Joneses", while they have a competitive window in place
In any case, they seem to have reached their off-season 2026 limit
That settles Verlander's HoF cap debate.
Jayson, I generally liked your article, but I think it was a bit too concentrated on wins as the defining stat for starters.
They're still young, but Skubal and Skenes have already amassed two and one Cy Young respectively. A sterling career can be achieved without a ton of wins.
That's what I thought, but I haven't read confirmation.
