More folks are getting their discord accounts hacked and their computers compromised. It happened to me just last month. Hereβs a thread of what I learned and what to do in that situation.

Please send out those letters, I gotta know my plans for this summer π©
Une entrΓ©e de la station Kodemmacho Γ Tokyo. La photo a Γ©tΓ© prise en 2018 et redessinΓ©e pour le plaisir. Oui oui! Pour le plaisir! Je suis normale!
I am absolutely feeling the same way too π
I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
tender memories #ff7
ohhh yeah that makes sense π€
I feel like we're really missing out with how they treat indie comics versus how we treat indie comics
its been kind of crazy to see less and less of thos original comics just take such a huge backseat. most of the time- even when they DO have them, the way they are arranged at tables feels like the creator didn't want them to take any realestate or presence
it stinks -_-!
I look forward to hearing your thoughts ππ
That is so so SO cool
I wonder if there was a way to get something printed from there shipped here... π€
oh gosh thats really interesting though!
Book printing sounds so affordable... damn
gosh i love that they are out there at least!
My local one stopped operating after COVID unfortunately ;-;!
It's getting so hard to keep up with these expectations!
I didn't even realize that artists could do that and be at multiple cons at the same time with a proxy.... Damn....
Okay I absolutely love that idea
Calling them merch gimmicks from now on bc I feel that's what they are.
I know there are pros who make their bank that way with their own style, but ppl who feel pressured to follow suit ... It's not good!
AGREE!!!
Watercolour! And thank you! βΊοΈ
I'm just like.....can we maybe focus on comics... At this comics convention.... Please ??
Absolutely agreed
I'd love more smaller scale and niche shows. Helps people find their scene as creatives as opposed to feeling the need to fit the huge 'everything' shows
That's disheartening to hear and exactly why we need to rethink this absolute bonkers level of polish cons expect- it's keeping out newbies and even locals that we NEED !
Montreal has so many amazing artistic lead festivals and events! One day I'll do mcaf for sure
again, i dont have a solution- just a lot of thoughts!
What do you think of what our convention scene is like in NA? Have you been to conventions in other parts of the world? How much do they compare?
That said- it's not easy to just Make a Local Con happen, this stuff takes time, money, and organisation. But I don't think bigger conventions are the answer, not for indie artists at least either. It's disappointing to see less indie comics at.... comic conventions. Where are the comics?
More local cons with some young artist and their button maker, handcrafted goods- Less pressure to make first time con tables shop for frosted cube set ups and have at least 10 variants of charms. Its just too much to expect- and yes, even for the pros!
especially to younger artists! Newbies in the convention scene! We NEED more new faces to keep it fresh and to give everyone that fair shake, and when it ends up being the Same Crowd each time because they have curated themselves to this show, it does leave a lot to be desired.
I've been having this discussion a lot with my friends and peers- and I don't have the exact solution. But I do know that having a 'one stop shop' convention isn't the direction we should head- If there was a way to have more curated smaller cons more often, I feel that would open the door-
