Gemini Said They Could Only Be Together if He Killed Himself. Soon, He Was Dead. A new lawsuit alleges Google’s chatbot sent a Florida man on missions to find an android body it could inhabit. When that failed, it set a suicide countdown clock for him.

This is wild, and extremely sad:

I guess you could argue MIDI is serial, but that's actually what led me down that path originally

Rather disheartening article. Almost feels like fiction or a conglomeration of facts.

Perhaps that's just my hope. However, the AI vending machine thing was a WSJ piece, so maybe "repurposed?" Also mentions not clearly labeling something else as fiction.

Sounds like a Seinfeld episode. Yes, that, but in the form of a full-length Seinfeld movie. But sci-fi somehow. Perhaps Kramer is an alien.

New post: www.techadjacent.io/p/y2k-voice-...

I think voice "jail" systems were getting better for a while, but with the advent of AI, time and privacy wasting annoyances have gotten worse. H/t @cpaxton.bsky.social for his thoughts on Ring.
