I heard them last night, too! Bummer of a day to come back to Ottawa though.

I hail from the frigid Northlands (current) and Piddle Valley (historic). Mainly post about running, strength training, being outdoors, and I share pictures of food unapologetically. Next up - Spartan Trifecta? I love tacos and coffee equally.

I nearly died taking this picture of the light on my car. I hope you like it.

A red and white weather alert notice with a T shaped like a lightning bolt. It reads: Storm Centre Plan ahead for long-lasting power outages and hazardous travel. Up to 24 hours of freezing rain and ice buildup possible, heavy snow
This could be serious. Look at the 'T' in 'STORM'.
I'm hoping this one passes us by but I've got everything charged up and a stockpile of snacks, just in case.

Guess I better start charging all my things now. ๐ฅถ
For what it's worth, I still aspire to get up to your running pace. ๐ Glad you're listening to your body, and I hope you're able to run pain-free again soon.
It's very profound. Behold, the relics of a celebration long gone. The snow collapses into a shallow, indifferent lake, neither ice nor earth, ending nor beginning. It is a portrait of our time, the memory of a functioning transit system drifting through a season that no longer knows its own name.
Cheese is life! But definitely a source of wacky macros for me, too. ๐
I'm mostly reiterating the other advice you've been given but I struggled with DOMS after my workouts, especially when first starting back up after my knee injury. My care team put me on a fairly high protein diet (120g+ per day). Among other changes, like lightening the workout, it helped a lot.
I've managed to trace one branch of my family back to two small towns in the Piddle Valley of Dorset, England. While it is true that I hail from the frigid northlands (Ontario) and identify as Canadian, I am now proud and amused that I can also say I historically hail from the Piddle Valley.
The biggest hindrance to my kids playing outside unsupervised was well-meaning(?) other parents. I've had neighbours threaten to call the police on me for letting my kids roam when they were 6-8ish. Between that and formative years spent in lockdown, they don't know how to be feral.
I'm sad to read students over 21 in #Ottawa will likely lose the AHS. I attended for 2 years 15 years ago and it was key to getting my life back together after a rough early start, getting into college, and having the career I do today. It was just as important for newcomers. This is such a loss...
I refuse to admit I have a plant hoarding problem.
Grow, grow my pretties!
I like that mindset! There's no way my next run will be worse than that, so I can only improve. ๐ I try to also remind myself that even if it was a bad run, it was still a run! That's way better than staying inside on the couch on such a great day.
I had the worst run of life today! Not sure why it was so bad. I missed two of my gym sessions this week because I was too stressed to be around humans, so I thought my long weekend run would be recharged and wonderful. I felt exhausted and like my legs were lead. It was beautiful out tho.

Yes! I'm growing a few this year to try and dry for powder. Nothing beats ancho in chili imho.
Test run of the seed germination mats with the FLIR. Can confirm the mats are roughly dog temperature.
I love it! Seeing people grow rare and hot peppers makes my heart happy. What are your favourites to grow?
I found another place that teaches classes, Stained Glass Stuff! It's far from my neighbourhood but I'd love to pick this up again... Should be worth the hike. ๐
My yard can accommodate 5, maybe 6 pepper plants at most, but I grow hundreds. By early summer I'll be offloading them on every friend, neighbour, and co-worker who'll take one (or more). Growing them calms my nerves and as a bonus, I'm helping keep my neighbourhood spicy. ๐ฅ๐ถ๏ธ

There was a time when a local craft club offered stained glass making classes. My creations were janky as heck but I loved doing it and would have improved. Sadly it went out of business but here are the two things I made while I could.
I hear you! I figured I could read two books a month this year. Boy was I mistaken. In all fairness, I could (and should) give up some of my doomscrolling for more reading.

I haven't been there in years but I have only good memories. Hope they're able to preserve it.
A lot of my old favs are closing up these days. I better do my part to make sure the Laff remains immortal.
Good news, I was saved from having to make bad choices. I forgot this stuff that usually goes in my smoothies is actually a creamer. It's pretty decent.
A bottle of Vodkow chocolate-orange cream liqueur.
The kid drank all the milk last night and there's nothing for my coffee. I'm trying to decide what kind of morning I want to have.
The lacrosse field with two players facing off. The score is tied at 13-13.
Two goalie and another player from the Oshawa Firewolves team, because I am endlessly amused by how GIANT the goalies look in all their gear.
For the final night of my birthday week, we went to a Black Bears lacrosse game. What an emotional rollercoaster! I thought the Bears were sunk, but they got four goals in the last three minutes, tying up the score then winning in overtime.

I'm glad to know that strategy worked out for you - gives me some hope! What was it that was causing you stress about getting into it?
4th gym class of the week, but no running! I can run 5k, that's no problem, but I get so gassed the thought of running gives me anxiety. I'm going to try shorter, more frequent runs, and build up so I don't burn myself out. It's hard for me - I can have a very all-or-nothing mindset.

The sign at the entrance of the restaurant. "the is no darkness but ignorance." - William Shakespeare
I took the family to an unlit restaurant, Dark Fork. There was no light at all, zero visual input. The food was AMAZING but I'm still not sure what it all was. Not being able to see while being served, trying to figure out if I even got food on my fork, was a strange but fun experience.

A (currently empty) glass 2022 Oktoberfest stein with the Kbeer logo and Wohlsein!
I'm so sad to hear this. โน๏ธ When I lived in that area they were my favs. And I'll never forget that before I went to Oktoberfest in Munich last fall, they were the only brewery in town where I could find a proper stein to practice my stein-holding.
