I have this theory that dopamine pathways can become addicted to averse emotions too.
i.e. sensationalism, breaking news, outrage, arguments.
Intense levels of pain shortcircuit the brain the same way a high does.
We begin to feel numb - so we seek out intense emotions to feel alive again. /1
London, UK today
Unfathomably massive, life critical news that 97% of people won’t know because of the cretins who own and operate the mainstream news.
(Sometimes it helps to say/write it out loud even though it does almost nothing at this point)
Enterprise Minister Peter Burke has said a probe into alleged oil price gouging “is going to be a quick investigation” and expects it to be complete in a month.
He said he has passed on receipts of recent wholesale oil purchases to the consumer watchdog.

That’s utterly shocking.
The President of Ireland has sent her support for our Strength in Solidarity Climate event in the Shankill Women's Centre next Thursday 😎
All our elected representatives have been invited to hear from the community growers and 3rd sector organisations across the city. We'll see who turns up.
Oh excellent! Two generations of my family involved in Dublin Youth Theatre, it was/is great!
That’s our government… too little, too late. Terrified of spending money on the poor, too keen to support international business that pays well but sucks the profits to billionaires abroad.
But introduced too late for some of my clients.
That community employment scheme was brilliant at the time.
The research found it was really useful and had a massive impact. The question is why not broaden it, and see what the overall social impact is.
I worked in mental health in the 90s; many of my clients depression would have evaporated with an extra fiver a week.
Boggles the mind how it's still in business, tbh.
Just as we stand with Palestinians as they continue to struggle to choose their own destiny on their own land, we join in the same fight for the self-determination of all people in the region. All of our futures depend on it.
Part of me wonders if we will ever have a @hselive.bsky.social app which sends a message when we have an appointment made and ad it to the calendar.
It would make life so much easier, and stop over lapping appointments being made.

THIRTY-TWO *Years* on… Jesus wept.
A proper media ownership mix is crucial for the culture and future of any society.
It is time for RTÉ management to park its outsourcing agenda, which destroys jobs and the future of this vital public service.
Shame Mehole isn't in a position where he could make legislation to prevent such an occurrence, shame he's just a retired teacher with an eye watering pension who has opinions.
This is crazy- there’s a cut to HSE capital plan this year
Rising population, more complexity of care & yet less money going into hospital beds, equipment and IT
Dept of Health’s own bed plan says it needs to build 2,900 by 2031
But plans only 143 new beds this year 🙄

Every war goes on for longer than predicted; and most end with negotiations
Did somebody say Operation Epstein Fury?
#nerdlings Does anyone know of a dragon model that resembles the one on the Welsh flag?
8th UNESCO lecture at Pearce St Library by Prof Chris Monash titled You have all disgraced yourselves: Sean O’Casey & the Abbey, a century later.
A quote from Patrick Pearse: “A free Ireland would not, and could not, have hunger in her fertile vales and squalor in her cities. … a free Ireland would… in short. Govern herself as no external power - nay, not even a government of angels and archangels could govern her.”
Went to a very engaging talk this evening, and a quote from Padraig Pearse struck me:
Road safety agencies really don’t appreciate/understand the draught effect of air vortex destabilisation of a bike user. Forensic crash analysis will conclude that a rider simply fell off their bike with no impact from an overtaking vehicle, such as a semi-trailer rig.
Irish flag sticker on a lamppost. Under it, is typed “Our proud flag unites orange and green. It means all colours and faiths are welcome here”
Our flag means peace.
“I’m going to call the police!”
“We ARE the police”
Plus ca change, plus c’est la même chose.
The lack of crowds at his last visit hasn’t deterred him?
