I’m glad to finally see some responses to this prompt with characters accepting their fate. Even though I traumatize mine I like to believe that would understand why…
I prefer present, but find past so much easier to write for some reason
Being an English major is weird, sometimes I have to read a 150 page script in a week and the other week I get introduced to the most JAW
DROPPING stories imaginable
Luckily this week it was the later with “The Ones Who Stay and Fight” by N.K. JEMISIN
apparently it is a great morning to wake up to a short story acceptance!!
yesterday I cut my synopsis word count from 1134 to 730, still not there yet but it's an improvement!

I come back to my WIP to see this as the last sentence I wrote

turns out she's done... and now I am nervous because I was not able to properly prepare myself for her reaction

In case you haven't, you can always compare the characters in your book to food
Is your MC spicy? Fruity (either way)? Do they bend like noodles? Are they raw? Whatever makes your character interesting, explore it through food!
