Some new things for spring. The latest gallery newsletter from a very sunny #Brighton beach. eepurl.com/jAGDFI
Weβd better get moving then!
A screen grab of a weather forecast showing sunshine in Brighton all day for the first time in a decade. Maybe longer.
*Dons shorts until October*
True!
Brighton would be much improved if we had the courage to do this.
Ha! Thanks.

A starling murmuration over Brighton pier, as seen from the sea. Lots of people lined up along the pier to watch the starlings overhead.
Two pictures from the sea in #Brighton on Wednesday. The beach was packed, and everyone was smiling for the first time in about three months. Went for a swim after work, watched the birds, saw a few friendly faces up there on the pier and cycled home without getting rained on. More of this please.
Lasted 12 days before one got taken out!
High point of the book tour so far: suggesting on Radio 4 that billionaires be hunted for sport and not having one person disagree.
Riding a cargo bike down Brighton's hills in torrential rain. Weaving round floating wheelie bins and hidden potholes like a budget bobsled run.
The pause after you've clicked on on that 'Verifying you are human' thing where there's a flicker of self-doubt but you also can't help thinking about some incredible possibilities.

A photograph of the end of a terrace of houses as seen from the sea at Birling Gap. The camera is half submerged and the houses appear to be sinking into the sea, which they will do one day soon!

A screenshot from a few hours later reporting that the cliffs had collapsed and people were stranded on the new sandy beach.

I know the city needs the visitors and cash but this privatisation of public green space for long periods does feel like it should be questioned more - it happens in parks all over the city.
Thirty seconds of sea.
Wednesday, a day of the week, derives from Old English 'WΕdnesdΓ¦g' & literally means 'Look after yourself, the news is optional'.
Dark sky, sea, wind turbines, sunlight.
A few distant views of the wind farm off the Sussex coast.

Breakfast - Niall McDiarmid
I was looking for beauty and simplicity in my own home. The first meal of the day, a daily ritual, started to present itself as a natural still life.

A screenshot of a number of sewage discharge alerts for Brighton and Hove on 7th,8th,9th and 13th Jan.
January swimming is just trying to find the gaps between unswimmable bad weather and unswimmable sewage discharges. Thanks Southern Water!
A bird nest that looks like a demon twig bird.
This nest in a tree outside my bedroom looks a bit like some sort of demon twig bird.

Cycling home through the woods tonight. Wet, cold, kinda fun.
As the whole of Cornwall hunkers down for 100mph winds, I can't help but notice the people opposite have put their recycling out.
