A tiny pale grey baby harvestman wandering over some dark soil on a stone. To the top and bottom of the photo are numerous little round harvestman eggs, pale grey in colour.
Close-up of the baby harvestman which has short, pale translucent legs and a slightly darker body with faint grey markings. In the bottom left corner is a cluster of small, round pale eggs.
Close-up of the harvestman eggs which are pale and round. Within several of them you can clearly see the pair of dark eyes of the tiny baby harvestman inside waiting to hatch out. In several you can also just make out the legs wrapped around the body.
Cuteness overload: adorable baby harvestman, newly hatched, alongside a cluster of eggs - the eyes of the babies are clearly visible inside the unhatched eggs and you can just make out the legs. They were found under a stone in my local cemetery. #arachnids #harvestmen

What I witnessed here, I think, was an attempt of a Lycosidae (most likely Pardosa sp.) to balloon? Anyone willing to confirm?
*Ballooning refers to a type of locomotion where a spider takes flight.

Three different spider species found in my local churchyard yesterday. I think an Ozyptila species, Nigma walckenaeri and what I think is an Segestria florentina. #IRecord #Arachnids

Sticking with spiders for this one. Here's a female Walnut Orbweaver (Nuctenea umbratica) I found a couple of nights back. They have a slightly flattened abdomen allowing them to hide in cracks and crevices during the day.

@cofnod.org.uk will undoubtedly have a few suggestions. My contribution is Kryptonesticus eremita. Currently only known in the UK from a disused mine entrance on Flat Holm island and a Penarth sewer chamber.

Today weβre shining a light on some of the extraordinary species that make Wales so special - species either globally restricted to Wales, restricted to Wales within the UK, or proudly carrying Welsh connections in their names.

A spider I don't see nearly as often as I should - the delightful Green Meshweaver (Nigma walckenaeri). This one was found trapezing after dark, and even when she sat down I needed some comically acrobatic manouevres to get the shot (hence the suboptimal sharpness).

The localised wolf spider Alopecosa barbipes - or Easter Fox-spider - at Margam Mine yesterday. A rather typical species of coal spoil sites in South Wales.

Frontal view of a black and white striped jumping spider. Big primary eyes beautifully visible. It has made itself comfortable on a large rock.
A lateral view of the same spider. A light brown pattern visible an the abdomen between the white stripes and a black backdrop.
Dorsal view of same spider. Brown pattern between white stripes visible (abdomen).
Taking walks in nature is a blessing in it itself. But noticing my eight-legged friends emerging really brightens my day.
Here, a zebra jumping spider (likely Salticus scenicus, judging by size, time, pattern and environment encountered).

This Cyclosa conica spider (Trashline Orbweaver) was trying to blend in on a small tree. I've only ever seen this species once before, then found two on this one trip. The other stayed in its web for the second shot.
