Finally got my Nova Scotia Long-eared Owl. The hardest of the resident species to see, this bird at Pubnico in Yarmouth County was the first twitchable one, ever. Species 394 and such a fabulous show-off We kept our distance, it often didn't. #Birds #Birding #Birdwatching #NovaScotia

About a Gull When you first start watching gulls, you approach them expecting to be able, with time, to identify what you’re looking at. Very quickly, and if you stick with it, you’ll soon discover that this is…

A new blog post. Don't be fooled by the Bohemian Waxwing, it's stuffed full of gulls. #Birds #Birding #Birdwatching #Gulls capesablebirding.wordpress.com/2026/02/18/a...

A nice bit of winter gulling excitement today when Alix and Kathleen found the fourth Slaty-backed Gull for Nova Scotia at Dennis Point, Pubnico in Yarmouth County. It rested for about 75 mins before leaving, not seen since. #Birds #Birding #Birdwatching #Gulls

Funny gull season here in southern Nova Scotia. This lump was bigger than all our east coast AMHG and I can't get away from Glaucous-winged, which we don't get. A hybrid is possible but I don't know what x what! #Birds #Birding #Birdwatching #Gulls

In Canada we have all sorts of lists, life-winter, combined provinces, what we saw last Tuesday. One of our long established birders does an annual compilation resulting in a free pdf. The 2024 report is out now. www.neilyworld.com/neilyworld/l... #Birds #Birding #Birdwatching

I'm hearing that they've been pretty regular from Halifax north. We should get a few when the next nor'easter blows through.

Hunting is done again for another year, so these beauties get to make more Long-tailed Ducks for next season. Hard to know why someone who saw such perfection up close would then shoot it? #Birds #Birding #Birdwatching

If a player gets arrested and deported while playing in the US during the hopefully relocated world cup, can the coach replace him or will they be considered collateral damage? I checked the FIFA handbook and see nothing to cover it.

They sound perfect for Canadian winters, but we don't buy anything from the US these days, for obvious reasons.

That getting published was just luck was my thoughts too, but Amazon KDP changed all that. The way I see it is that Amazon are employing people irrespective, people that need jobs. Me not using them to publish won't change anything anywhere but it does get me my books published.
