I've played full-on noise rock in front of Katie Melua
Dear Shabana, I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank. You said: “A party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to make a perilous crossing on small boats.” I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division. When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney. As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I filled water tanks and picked up litter. What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country. Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it. It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and croissants to refugees and food parcels. When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She said “we have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers whilst risking death on the seas.” She said “maybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when …
Dear Shabana,
Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.
come on keir starmer, pass legislation to stop overseas political donations, nationalise the water companies, and cap the price of mini eggs
Thank you email for joining the Green Party
Just joined UK’s Green Party for a few reasons. Starmer himself suggested ppl like me leave the Labour Party when he assumed leadership. Request granted. But the Greens’ recent success & polling (and more importantly their policy goals!) show them to be robust & viable.

Reform UK in the past 48hrs.
wonder if all the Reformy British immigrants in Dubai currently feeling unsafe, wanting to escape to a safer country, might start considering their POV on people who feel unsafe and want to escape to a safer country

Sky News don't seem as excited as the rest of us.

This is a massive scandal.
Labour has invented a made-up tactical vote organisation to trick Gorton and Denton into voting for them.
How can this even be legal?
Labour are a JOKE.
Another year, another plea for help from someone whose work is the basis for a $200m blockbuster movie.
I'm constantly trying (/failing) to get this point across.
If you're a trained expert in a field, then it may be worthwhile to question the scientific consensus of your peers.
If you're not, the scientific consensus is absolutely the best you can do and it's arbitrary foolishness to disregard it.

You have to find some little bits of joy to keep you going through whatever shite is happening. Being happy is an act of defiance.
Hey, we have a new label in town.
You never forget your first, and here is ours - "I'm Not Happy and That's On You Three" by 72% - perhaps not an obvious choice for a new label's debut but one that meets the strange times we inhabit head on.

A court has ruled that the government's authoritarian ban on Palestine Action was unlawful.
Time to stop criminalising the people protesting a genocide - and start ending the UK's complicity.
British values
Bezos burning the Washington post to the ground is as firm a reason for the continued bbc licence as ever there was. Eventually everything that can be owned by a billionaire will be owned by a billionaire and at that point its future will be determined by the whims of a man making 166k per minute.
Do the Wrong Thing
If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.
