Seconding Blender and Nomad! You can just drag and drop any stl into Blender. I taught myself Blender by following along with YouTube tutorials. I like the donut tutorial by blenderguru, he goes over the absolute basics of UI navigation first. Then you can look up videos for whatever you wanna do.
