Fixed it!
I took out so many unnecessary questions that I accidentally also took out a very necessary one (the alias)...
I thought it would automatically pick it up from the username prompt, and it does, but only if you set "Ask for alias" to yes.
Now I know! π€
PuTTY terminal window showing the login page of my BBS (Bulletin Board System): a pixelated Nemethsphere logo (sphere with a graduation cap and glasses), the text "Welcome to the Nemethsphere BBS!", and a prompt to "enter your user name".
I've only customised the login page so far, but if you want to try it out, feel free: bbs.jamienemeth.co.uk
I've been learning about codepages, and it's set to CP437 by default. Is this still what most people use for BBSes nowadays, or should it be UTF8? π€

PuTTY window showing the default main menu (sysop-elevated version) of Mystic BBS in local mode. Header with the word 'Main' in pixelated blue letters, and '993 mins' as a session countdown timer. Options for account settings, door games, last 10 callers, user listing, time bank, message menu, system bulletins, one liners, BBS listing, usage graph, file areas, comment to SysOp, voting booth, page SysOp, demos, goodbye, node chat, who's online, send node message, page user for chat, goodbye fast, and SysOp menu. Command prompt with waiting cursor.
Early days, but...it works locally! This is just the Mystic BBS demo system menu as-is, but I've been playing about with the customisation options.
Soon...still at the proof-of-concept stage for now...
I fully plan to actually dial in, one day...I've already set up my own dial-up ISP...π«£
This is precisely what I've done π

Backed this on @kickstarter.com at the start of 2023.
Around Christmas 2023, I had to pay for shipping, as delivery would be soon.
When Christmas 2024 and 2025 went by, I didn't think I'd ever see it.
Nearly swore aloud in front of my parents when they handed me this from the door!
Someone commented on Threads that this post hadn't aged well. I'm so glad it didn't! As the commentators said, where has this Wales been up until now?! Still another half to go, of courseπ€ π΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώ

Here's the link to the in-vision Pages From Ceefax I captured from videotape:

Remember, Pages From Ceefax is still a thing in 2026 thanks to @nmsni.co.uk:

A square PC monitor, and a VCR with a PC keyboard on top of it. The monitor is showing a Linux Mint desktop, with OBS running and displaying a the video output from the VCR (Pages From Ceefax), and a terminal running teletext VBI capture.
Checked in on the latest tape going through the teletext recovery setup, and discovered I was capturing teletext from the VBI while teletext was also in-vision on Pages From Ceefax. Very meta.
(Yes, I'll rewind when it's done and capture that, too, before you ask.)

A guardian headline reading βEngland and Wales brace for downpours with more than 200 active flood alertsβ The headline is accompanied by a picture of a wet supermarket car park.
Why is nobody asking if βsevereβ rain is over diagnosed when it is part of natural weather variation? Instead of flood warnings, people should be helped to find dignity through labour with a compassionate approach to getting those in a temporarily submerged lifestyle back into the workforce.

Did you know there was an official #NFL #teletext service here in the UK (in 1991 at least)?
Even though this page is from late July, I still thought it was a nice coincidence that I recovered it from videotape in close proximity to this year's #SuperBowl.

That time I recreated the Simpsons intro using only stock footage.
So cool to see this being used out in the wild!
I know I attempted to write good instructions, but I was still a little bit worried that the tool only made any sense to me.

I am now a mobile phone repairer (sort-of)!
The new power button set arrived from AliExpress, but the cameras, screen, battery, and antenna all had to be disconnected, and the motherboard entirely removed, in order to get to the buttons to replace them.
But my phone has survived the experience!
Using @jamienemeth.bsky.social's bamboozle generator, I have created 'bedriegd!' It's a quiz with general knowledge questions with 3 levels. It's on page 601 on bmn Bollentekst.
I'm so glad the commentators mentioned it, after it had been fixed...I wasn't sure if it was just a new way of doing things vs. a mistake, but I didn't like it!
The Pages from Ceefax live stream has now been running for a full year - as of about 5pm (GMT).
www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8OU...
Screenshot of my Bamboozle Generator website/tool, open on the new 'wizards' tab, with four selectable options: blank (clear everything and start from scratch), Bamboozle! (a template based on classic Bamboozle, with 12 questions, and four wrong answer pages with bonus questions), Befuddle (a template based on the six-question TV and radio quiz featured on SPARK, TVARK's teletext service), and Starfleet Academy (a template based on the four-question Star-Trek-themed quiz featured on TrekkieText, part of Nemetext).
I said there'd be more wizards!
Teletext's Ten To One is next on my radar.
Are there any other Bamboozle-style quizzes you know of, that could be template-ized?

In fact, in time, I'd like to do an LGR-style dream retro PC setup, incorporating my AverTV PCI capture card with infrared remote, that supported teletext, hooked into the whole-house UHF stuff.
Not sure why I didn't use it to view teletext more, back in the day. Maybe my aerial feed was too weak?
I added a new feature...wizards!
bsky.app/profile/jami...
It's still very hands-on...the tool is aimed at those who are already familiar with the basics of teletext creation and editing.
Making your own Bamboozle-style quiz manually is fun...once...after all that manual page linking, you might be put off doing it again. This tool automates some hurdles.
