I don't think there's any inherent superiority to any particular tense. BUT...

My problem with the proliferation of present tense usage (as someone who's pubbed something like half a dozen books in present tense) is twofold.

First of all, most writers aren't exploiting the strengths... 1/

a flow-chart with 2 islands. "Do I need AI?" that flows into a final island saying "No"

If you are able, drop a class if the professor does this. There are many, many of us who are not using AI. Tell the dean. Tell your counselors. Let it be known you don't want to use it. Be loud about it.

First came Encyclopedia Brown, a good teen detective. Then Wikipedia Brown who was fine. Now meet A.I. Brown who's always wrong & has caused 8 people so far to die. He's never actually solved a case, claims he's solved 40, all involving people who don't exist, committing crimes that didn't happen.

To summarize
-waves are not seasonal
-vaccines are waning
-people are getting long covid
-it’s still not an endemic disease
-very young kids are at increased risk because they didn’t go through the initial vaccine series

Oh and it turns out, Covid Cautious people have been right the whole time.

The big takeaway here is that Reuters won this case against the AI company on grounds they violated fair use—the judge found the AI company was guilty because, in using copyrighted works to generate its output, it “meant to compete... by developing a market substitute.”
