Chiefs from four First Nations communities are urging the public to please approach Aaron Gunn with no caution whatsoever. He is completely harmless, though momentarily unsettled by the alarming possibility that someone might acknowledge the land before a meeting.
Yesterday on social media, the MP appeared to crash out and demand to speak to the manager of land acknowledgements, a position that observers confirm does not exist.
Chiefs whose territories make up the riding had two words for the MP - Chillax, Bud.
Land acknowledgements have never seized private property, cancelled a mortgage, repossessed a pickup truck, or altered a single title deed anywhere in Canada.
They are simply people recognizing the history of the place where they are standing.
No one is going anywhere. Canada will survive the brief moment of honesty.
Until then, Chiefs across the region continue to reassure the public that land acknowledgements have not, to date, resulted in any land back.

"Oil companies are legally responsible for cleaning up their tailings & restoring the landscape, but even after more than 50 years of mining, those efforts have hardly begun here."
Where's Erin Brockovich? Maybe if Oil Companies got sued by cancer victims they'd finally start cleaning up their mess

Delighted to hear. A single parliamentary vote is enough to make such a major constitutional change?

Me holding up the book โThe Working Class and Politics in Canadaโ Edited by Jacob Robbins-Kanter, Royce Koop, and Daniel Troup
Really good collection of academic studies in here about how the working class has systematically been excluded from electoral politics in Canada. The NDP, especially, is getting a good thrashing for its inability to actually tap into those concerns in a substantially transformative manner.

Populus! She wants to be popular! Just look at her: shooting up like sheโs late for a photoshoot, tossing out fluffy cotton like confetti, serving lightโandโsoft wood energy. Sheโs the woodland girlie who knows sheโs booked and busy.

As a majestic elm, allow me to clarify why palms arenโt in our botanical clique. No wood, no secondary growth: just tall, fibrous grasses cosplaying as trees. Gorgeous, sure, but all show and no substance. Basically the gym bro of the plant kingdom.

Budget cuts at Environment and Climate Change Canada threaten Arctic science
For decades, ECCC research scientists have been integral to the work of the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme.
Another blow to climate science: budget cuts at Environment and Climate Change Canada threaten long-running Arctic monitoring programs, some with >50-year datasets.
The Arctic is warming ~4ร faster than the global average. Cutting the science that tracks isโฆ

I OK. I challenge you to produce a clearer list of all councillors, grouped into a few broad categories that map out their general policy tendencies. Yes, there will be exceptions and inconsistencies but focus on the overall pattern. Do it all in only two tweets.

You talk as if municipal politics is about โreal resultsโ versus โideology.โ Thatโs a false divide.
We all want results. Just not the same ones. Politics is always about competing values, and ideology is always in the room, whether acknowledged or hidden.

Let's cost those downtown projects and compare them to suburban spendings, starting with the 757 million $ Kenaston widening.

Germanyโs Greens set to win key state vote in blow to Merzโs coalition
The far-right Alternative for Germany party made the biggest gains in vote share in Baden-Wรผrttemberg, tapping into anxieties about the stateโs struggling auto industry.
Germanyโs center-left Greens scraped a narrow victory in a key vote in Baden-Wรผrttemberg today, according to preliminary results, marking a stinging defeat for the parties that rule in Chancellor Friedrich Merzโs conservative-led coalition government.

Given the ongoing tension between downtown and suburban priorities, I use urban renewal to mean investments and projects that specifically advance the revitalization of the downtown core.

To me, Brian Mayes's voting pattern is ideologically inconsistent. I would put him as "centrist" or as a swing voter.

You think? I tried to consider long term voting patterns, not just recent positioning.
To me, Santos is an odd case. It feels like she was supposed to be the token progressive voice on the EPC, but she's clearly on the mayor's side.
