With respect, Carney’s speech was mostly platitude and empty rhetoric and Iran not mentioned. Natural dislike of term "variable geometry", suggesting the ability to fine-tune and adapt to circumstances, but more likely to mean grovelling sycophancy and self indulgent self promotion/congratulation

Not that hard, is it

Wong/Albanese (Carney also apparently, so disappointing) playing word games, pretending to endorse, and pretending to refrain from endorsing, Trump's actions at the same time. Difficult to maintain respect for any of them or confidence in their leadership. Strikes are outrageous and clearly illegal

Nothing Trump says or does has any intrinsic value or meaning beyond serving as a distraction from his egregious behaviour and to further his grifting and self-interest. Australia should not hesitate to condemn the strikes on Iran and dissociate itself from Trump ASAP

Well one way or the other, his meeting with Trump seemed to be a turning point for him (downwards). I suppose I lament the lost opportunities and I agree that subsequent behaviour has been appalling and don't see how he can recover

Compare his meeting with Trump with the meetings with Biden and Xi, now those he enjoyed for sure! I don't think he's enjoying himself at the moment, and can't help himself, digging a huge hole to fall into. Such a shame as there was so much potential to fix things after the election

All the pics with Trump look like an endurance test. Probably taking a selfie was one way of getting through it and signing off somehow. I didn't find any interactions with Trump convincing and the episode with Rudd was excruciating. That's not to excuse him, his recent behaviour may be his downfall

Everything about Trump, his family and associates is toxic and should be avoided at all costs. One day the full details will come out and anything associated with his name will need to be pulled down

You could ask an expert on facial expressions, but to me he looks like he’s in a lot of pain and distress. Maybe from about that time he met Trump, the stress and distortions of reality got to him and he’s had some appalling lapses in judgement

It could be a watershed moment. There is little if any commentary on what happens next. It seems likely that Vance will be POTUS soon and then everything changes as he is not implicated by Epstein. I wonder for example if Vance understands what a tariff is and if he is complicit with Lutnick

Musk knew what he was doing was illegal and he said before the election that he would go to prison if Trump lost

The Board of Peace is a gross obscenity and I don't understand how any commentators can find any merit in it or say some good can come out of it

Thanks very much for your fast and poignant reaction to Albanese's appalling remark

If Trump is impeached then possibly a clear pathway opens up for Vance to become POTUS. If members of the cabinet are also impeached then Vance could be hobbled. I haven’t seen commentary for making a case for impeachment of Vance himself

19.02.2026 22:59 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I think Vance needs members of the cabinet, so has to choose timing carefully, as they are presently all depending on Trump for survival, and it is not clear how they can turn on him

More thought should be given to how to adjust to Vance. It is likely he will be POTUS soon. He doesn’t have any of the Epstein baggage

Confused about the endgame? Trump and depraved cabinet are constantly on display. Today Lutnick, but any day it can be Bondi, Patel, Noem, Hegseth, vying for most execrable. Inevitable that they go down. But Vance becomes POTUS, and then Miller and maybe Musk move in from the sidelines, frightening

Nothing to do with social cohesion. Like Trump, seeks and thrives on attention and gets pleasure out of reactions to absurd takes on reality

Forget about remorse, everyone in the Epstein class has gone past some kind of tipping point in their brains, and where most of us have a functioning conscience, they have blank spaces. Society somehow has to find a way to deal with them, like overcoming a life threatening illness

Cartoon from 2021 with Scott Morrison and Barnaby Joyce floating on a coal powered ferry with heading β€œScomo’s reef-coloured glasses tours”, with divers beneath exploring a skeletal bleached coral reef with rainbow filtered goggles to give an illusion of colour. Joyce is feeding the oven with coal and Morrison quips β€œI’m all about the technology driven approach Barnaby”. In the distance are coal laden transport boats spewing smoke.

Yes but he’s like that with everything. He wallows in his false translations of reality, like a pig playing in mud (no aspersions on pigs), and his followers enjoy it, something like suspension in disbelief when watching a show or animation in the nature of a fantasy

09.02.2026 03:35 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, and Trump will go down. Vance is not mentioned at all in the Epstein files and likely to become POTUS, apparently unimpeded

The boos are water off a duck’s back. Vance is in a strong position, likely to become POTUS soon, does not appear in the Epstein files and will have enormous power and leverage over the so-called Epstein class
