This is one of my favorite old commissions I drew. I usually don’t do this kinds of noodle inking but was really inspired by ol’ Swampy. Everything clicked with the brush on this one.

TIL: Chester, Illinois has a "Popeye Trail" of 19 statues (28 characters) situated throughout the city in honor of hometown hero Elzie Segar. Beyond the main cast they have Castor/The Whiffle Hen, The Sea Hag/Bernard, Alice the Goon & Child, King Blozo, Toar & more. I have a nerdly urge to visit.

Do you ever ask yourself, “ Why couldn’t I have been an impressionist?”

Again. All you folks saying this is not a disaster. Only X number of Americans have died. These things play out over years. Over DECADES. We’re almost at an 80 year cycle with Iran and they’re still here and we’re continuing to make it worse.

🤣 and for certain editorial boards, too, apparently.

100%. Better yet. No music. Just read the book. And guys doing horrid female voices. Just stop. Read normal.

I love Peckinpah. The Wild Bunch is maybe my favorite film. Wow. This. It’s a steaming pile of garbage. Especially after the first 20 minutes. Clearly done for booze money.

way aside from the point, and I know smoking isn't supposed to be cool anymore, but this pic of Marjane is so badass.

100%.

Have you seen His Girl Friday? Has that same Hawks fast talk and energy. Grant is the chaos agent and Russell is just brilliant.

That’s smart. I feel like I reinvent the wheel every time I do anything on a computer. Instantly leaves my brain.

Both great movies. Baby is the definitive “screwball comedy”.

Nancy by Ernie Bushmiller.

First panel, Nancy talking to a logger sawing a tree and pointing to a carved piece of trunk.

Nancy: Can I have that piece? My boy friend carved it.
Logger: Sure.

Second panel, Nancy is watching the log burn in the fire place.
Nancy: I'm mad at him.

Every once in awhile I think about this Nancy comic and it makes me laugh every single time. Absolute perfection.

The costs of this Iran war debacle will likely be more than the cost of extending the ACA health insurance subsidies.

If you asked Americans, which do you want: another war in the Middle East or lower health care costs at home, is the margin 90 to 10? 95 to 5?
