There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.
Right?!? There are pieces that work and some that don’t as focal point. 🤷🏻♀️ So it’s not just me!
I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

Now more than ever I’m convinced losing Anthony Bourdain meant we lost probably the biggest person on tv who advocated for the wonders of meeting new people and calling anyone online who hated learning new cultures the children they were, ruthlessly to the camera.

Saw a guy who looked EXACTLY like Cillian Murphy in line at pharmacy yesterday. Same eyes. Long-ish brown hair. Slight build. Cheekbones. I honestly had to do a double take. Anything w Mr Murphy in it is ok by me! Happy Birthday!
Also, had a rough day & then my Gr 9s (including the boys, who want 2 look tough & 🆒) recited poetry they ✍️, about themselves or a thing that they ❤️, to each other. The small groups listened carefully, shared vulnerably, & wrote amazing things. 1 kiddo (quiet & sooo shy) PERFORMED it like a BOSS

I ❤️ Casablanca. Wanted 2 start my film-studies course w it this yr, but changed mind in Sept before course roll out. It is a cinematic masterpiece & truly changed 🎞️making. Stunning film noir imagery, huge set scopes, the dialogue. And that La Marseillaise scene breaks my ❤️ w hope every time.

Had a rough day at work 2day. But then during lunch, 2 of my gr 11 sts from last year popped in to say hi. They said ‘We wanted to come to say thank u to u 4 last year. Eng 12 is pretty hard now & u gave us all the tools we need to process & understand what we read. To really get at its meaning.’
