Weird. I don’t know if you’ve read WE ARE NOT STRANGERS but if not, it’s a GN from this year about the author’s Sephardi grandpa who took care of his Japanese-American gentile friends’ property, and I was glad to see that story being told, precisely because of the solidarity message

Rights report for SOREL by Sacha Lamb, Levine Querido 2024
My second book is scheduled for fall 2024 — queer Jewish historical fantasy
this is the length of the entire book i just wrote
PW gives you a fairly limited scope for pitching but some additional facts for those curious:
- it’s a dybbuk story
- it takes place in the 1870s in a small city that isn’t Berdichev
- there’s a dog
1870s!
Arthur A. Levine at Levine Querido has bought Printz Honoree Sacha Lamb's next YA fantasy novel, Sorel. It follows teenage runaway Sorel as she takes on the male identity of Isser Jacobs, but it soon becomes clear that there is a real Isser Jacobs—and people want him dead. Publication is scheduled for fall 2024; Rena Rossner at the Deborah Harris Agency brokered the deal for world English rights.
I should probably have tried using scrivener for the thing I just finished instead of what I actually did, which was: wrote interstitials in a second Word document and then copy-pasted each of them into the Word document containing the entire draft

I sent them a letter as a concerned author saying that libraries are a place where kids can get information and stories that have been assessed for quality and appropriateness, and if they don’t have the library they can and will find things on the internet that have NOT been vetted by anyone
“One character is an unexpressed aspect of another, in the same way that Uriel transitions by keeping the same non gender it always had. Why do a straightforward queer narrative when you could do it in a way that’s slightly confusing”

I would like to urge anyone who can make a donation to Palentine Children's Relief Fund to do so. The PCRF is one of the ways that those of us who oppose genocide can do to help the children of Palestine immediately. www.pcrf.net My heart is absolutely in pieces.

PEDRO & DANIEL by Federico Erebia. It’s a little unusual for YA because it follows the lead brothers from childhood into young adulthood, and it can be a tough read, but it’s a lovely and heartfelt mosaic of life for a couple of gay brothers growing up in late 70s Ohio
I really want some printer’s trays but boy they can be expensive! I’d keep my tiny ceramic and glass figures of animals, my pebbles, and my small bones in one
I’m on the New England Book Awards shortlist so I’ll be at NEIBA on Thursday! If anyone here is a New England indie bookseller make sure to say hi!
