hope this helps any poor parent stuck in this hell..
i have not tried plugging ethernet back in, but given normal ps5 behaviour i think it will work - because this seems to be the way
i was not helped by android/1password not working with sony passkey - had to remove passkeys in the end. and also not helped by sony locking accounts out half way thru
* now on portal connect to your ps5
* repeat lots of waiting for connection, and subtle hidden connect
* start playing!
like many times on ps5 with parental controls, you have to sneak around them with parent account, and then it works from then on.
* once you happy it works...
* signout from portal
* back on ps5, switch user to child account
* on phone log into ps app as child
* on portal log in as child, a qr code is shown
* scan with phone camera (needs to fill most of screen to work)
* it will popup a link, click to login with app
* approve
* connect the portal to your logged in ps5 - this blue circle bit takes a LONG time of waiting....
* then it will silently connect (its very subtle)
* the start playing is available...
* try it out, now you can get diagnostics of network, press ps button on portal and then click on settings widget..
* my ps5 had a wired ethernet connection, and portal on wifi - this does not work (maybe switch or router blocking). so unplug ps5 from ethernet and connect to a wifi portal can connect to
* on ps5 be logged in as adult, and ensure remote play enabled for adult and child account
Playstation portal and child account is a new form of hell. In short to get it working:
* setup everything using parent account - this ensures you have a chnace child account will work
* there is lot sof networking problems in sony approach, not least being the lack of diagnostics
