That's right, I'm doing gaming video essays now, and you can't stop me.
First one's about that spurt of mild depression I get when I finish a long game (and I hope you do too).
Would appreciate a watch and signal boost, as I have more on the way:

It's the little things that make for GOTY material.
(Big Hops is a game great with fun movement mechanics btw, but also, hehe funny poop)
After taking a short break, I am officially looking for work in either full-time or freelance roles.
I have 5 years experience as a Guide Writer and Editor, while also writing features, reviews, and news, with bylines on Sports Illustrated, ESPN, DBLTAP, and many more.

At some point in my late teens I made an active decision to NOT get into Lego because I knew I'd become obsessed if I took that plunge, and its price tags like these that remind me how good of a decision that was.
FINALLY, this company actually does something unpredictable and takes a risk, and it's no surprise it's the happiest I've been with the product in about a year, if not longer.
Will it be a short reign and Cody will be champ again by Mania? Yyyeaahhh probably, but fuck this feels good in the moment.
This year put us through the wringer in all sorts of ways, and it's ended in a real rough place.
That said, I still got to spend the whole time doing cool stuff and having a laugh even when we were stressed beyond belief, and getting to work with Oli and the rest of the team is a huge part of why.

After finally beating Silksong's true final boss, I can declare that...yeah, it's pretty good.

Is This Seat Taken? is exactly the series of satisfying logic puzzles I was hoping it would be.

Modern matchmaking systems aren't designed to give you an even, fair game. They're designed to manipulate you into stay like a slot machine, and even spend money on microtransactions. Streamers and journalists especially need to drop the PR-approved messaging. www.dbltap.com/features/ski...
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the greatest stories ever told in a video game, and the combat is second to none. Get your hands on it ASAP.

I'm not quite as crazy about Blue Prince as a lot of people are, but I do think it's an excellent puzzle game that absorbed me for an entire weekend.

I had fun with Doctor Who's latest season opener, with a strong start for our new companion, but the story fell by the wayside as a result.

Wanderstop was exactly the experience I was hoping for. Beautiful, whimsical, and emotional in equal measure.

I like AC Shadows, I really do, but I found a lot of things in it to complain about. Things that games from over a decade ago did much better.

Imagine putting on a show this good and then ending it in the lamest way possible with a boring main event. Never change, AEW.
I've been looking forward to this given the writing calibur behind it, glad to see it doesn't miss the mark.
Two Point Museum is the studio's best game yet. There is no management game like it - truly the pinnacle of the genre.

There really is no experience like playing a Civ game with a group of friends, even if one of them is far too good at the game.
@baldbreens.bsky.social has done a great write-up of our game that will forever leave me with great memories and mental scars.

Avowed's combat is the best of its kind and keeps me coming back for more, which is good because the world and its characters have nothing interesting going on.
