If I had my way we'd be producing 2 seasons of the main campaign and at least 1 mini-campaign every year.

If we can eventually get the show in a place where we can afford to hire help, we'll bare minimum do the 2 seasons a year part haha

And once again: thank you to everyone who is being patient with us as we get it done.

Many folks have noticed how many things I'm doing at any given time to keep the lights on, and that stuff unfortunately keeps me from getting it done at the speed I'd like.

We're planning some really exciting things for Tales Unwritten lately. We haven't confirmed everything yet, but so far it's shaping up to be really cool.

And don't worry, it's not affecting Book 3's production.

I 100% felt the temptation to just believe it's proof, but that's the kind of thing that bites us in the ass if the number goes back up later.

Sustained lower numbers will be worth a victory lap.

I'm entirely self-taught, so I have no idea how my work sounds to other composers, but I do my best haha

Honestly, I get to talk to so few people about composing in any detail, so even just this brief exchange is great

I'm a much better singer than I am a musician, so I've found vocal controls really appealing as well

But they're so expensive, I've never taken the risk on them

I tend to focus on orchestral scores, but I dabble in nearly everything haha

I've actually been looking into Arduino for a completely unrelated reason as well, so I may give that a shot!

I don't say this to be a buzzkill, it just matters that we're honest. I completely believe socialist policies actually work, so I want us to produce irrefutable proof here in the US.

We don't need to conflate correlation and causation if we're right.

I'd love to use a midi controller that's essentially an otomotone, which it's only just occurred to me now MUST already exist haha

I actually use my midi keyboard so little, it takes up too much space and I'm very comfortable inputting and manipulating notes manually haha

Feels a bit early to attribute this directly to Mamdani, as much as I'd LOVE to be able to do that.

I don't doubt that taking care of your constituents would reduce crime, we just haven't had much time for that to really take effect yet.

I imagine VSTs themselves are often having to do work to interpret midi and then compensate for how simple the information is, but there's gotta be a ceiling to what can be achieved that way

Yeah, it's one of those things where the benefits would need to be truly phenomenal to be worth it. And it would need to be able to exist in tandem with midi inside a project.

I don't have an issue with midi, to be clear, I just wonder if it's plausible that another format would allow for exciting things.

I have no basis for this thought haha

That said, midi is so simple that it's also extremely adaptable. So maybe this isn't really an issue at all.

I'm just speculating lol

I can't help but wonder if midi as a standard format limits digital instruments to some extent.

It's GREAT to have a universal language all DAWs understand. It's just that we're all so invested in it now that it feels like even if there were a better option, nobody would use it.

Honestly wild, every AI track I've heard is so painfully dull at best and musically nonsensical at worst

The work @stephank.bsky.social puts into Tales is *insane* and the score never ceases to amaze new viewers who send very kind messages letting me know they've just binged Books 1 + 2 and now they're vibing to the soundtrack while they wait for the next season
