Good thing godot runs on a potato!
Battlefield is using a custom godot for its map editor. 80.lv/articles/upd...
Nice. I knew there was something there but I couldn't find it. π

I meant this class docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/cl... introduced in 4.5, but I had never really looked at it. My custom logger writes to the console with print rich. This is a bit different. But because of it, I had to rename my class.
I wonder, does godot's new built in logger support print_rich? (surprised if it doesn't.) The first thing I did with my homegrown logging class when this became available was let each object type pick it's own color when logging. Very helpful for distinguishing lines from different sources.
Also as grom pointed out, your godot problem isn't a godot problem. It's a you problem. Don't complain incorrectly and publicly about something if you don't want to hear actual responses.
You don't understand bluesky. If you don't want people interested in a topic to see your post on it, don't use the word that lists are set up to watch.
And if you're afraid of people engaging you in discussion on your public posts, maybe don't make public posts. Acting like this is super rude.
Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with gamemaker. I think it's not just 2d? Its just (as far as I know) the best option for those with less coding experience. Coding in godot doesn't make you bend over backwards for basic stuff, but you can't avoid it without plugins.
Gamemaker is probably the best solution for people who don't know how to program. (unless you're doing a visual novel then there are other options) Godot was not designed for people who don't know how to program. However there are a couple of block or visual coding plugins that can help.
My exact sentiments. My favorite novel as a teenager... But when I looked into the author later, I was horrified and disappointed. That's how it goes, sometimes.
I totally feel that about reception, but it was definitely worth it, and that's the right attitude when you've got something you think is worth sharing!
Hey I saw that post! It was worthy of attention since it makes a good point that people need to hear. Lots of people hold themselves back with an unnecessarily limited view of what is "art" -- it's great to show there are lots of ways to make games visually beautiful or interesting.
Y'all, this game is such a delight.
Great theme. Deeply rewarding and satisfying gameplay loop. Clever asymmetrical co-op puzzly-ness.
And don't get me started on what a kind person the designer is β€οΈ
This video is amazing. Just very interesting.

What great company! Many thanks to @maddieday.bsky.social for this great photo of the #AgathaAward nominees for Best First Novel. Looking forward to meeting everyone at #MaliceDomestic β€οΈ

Are there any video games where somehow the whole game is character creation? (Roll Player is a board game example)
Head and shoulders image of a white haired man with a white goatee looking off into the distance to the right. Some buildings and a bit of water are visible behind him. Ryan Dancey, former COO of Alderac Entertainment Group.
Text from a LinkedIn post which says: Ryan Dancey Author Chief Operating Officer at Alderac Entertainment Group I have zero reason to believe that an AI couldn't "come up with Tiny Towns or Flip Seven or Cubitos". I can prompt any of several AIs RIGHT NOW and get ideas for games as good as those. The gaming industry doesn't exist because humans create otherwise unobtainable ideas. It exists because many many previous games exist, feed into the minds of designers, who produce new variants on those themes. People then apply risk capital against those ideas to see if there's a product market fit. Sometimes there is, and sometimes there is not. (In fact, much more often than not). Extremely occasionally (twice in my lifetime: D&D and Magic: the Gathering) a human has produced an all new form of gaming entertainment. Those moments are so rare and incandescent that they echo across decades. Game publishing isn't an industry of unique special ideas. It's an industry about execution, marketing, and attention to detail. All things AIs are great at.
Ryan Dancey, a more than 30-year veteran of the tabletop gaming industry, has lost his COO job at publisher AEG a day after saying AI could generate game ideas as good as his companyβs titles Tiny Towns and Cubitos:

I also find that balancing my ambition with my learning helps keep me doing things that feel productive. If I try to bite off more than I'm ready for, it gets frustrating. So while I'm doing what I can, I also spend time digging up into on what I want to be able to do long term.
Not true! Most likely you just underestimate how long it takes.
In my view the only thing that's really important is consistency. If it's your own project, do it however you want. Or use C#.
Not being a shill if promoting your own stuff. And as long as each time you've got something new to say I don't think it will bother people. Every time you post something new it always seems well received! You've been doing so much cool stuff.
Thank you for sharing!
Anyway the story of the day with godot seems to be the godot github maintainers' frustration with AI slop pull requests making everything more difficult. So the likelihood of their going that direction seems small.
What happened with audacity?
