Takashi Miike's ICHI THE KILLER is getting a new 4K remaster and theatrical re-release in #Japan during the merry, merry month of May to celebrate the film's 25th (!!!) anniversary. Two new posters, spotlighting a pre-Shogun Tadanobu Asano, have also been released.

The LP release of the Marty Supreme soundtrack comes packaged in #Japan with a big olde vintage style obi strip (which will probably result in people dogpiling each other to get one)
Japanese movie theater deathwatch: The Movil entertainment complex in Yokohama will close for good on 9/26. Originally built in 1971 and remodeled a few times after, it's said to be Japan's first cinema complex. I went there recently, and while it has a lot of faded charm, it's probably time.
Agreed. I found a lot of great music through the listening stations as well. They don't have them on the vinyl floor tho (the other floors do, but not like walls of them like they used to).
It’s Hinamatsuri, also known as Doll’s Day or Girls’ Day in #Japan.
I don’t want to trash Tower Records in Japan, mostly because Tower Records in Sacramento saved my life, but yeah, the Shibuya store is not great for vinyl junkies. Highest prices in the area, slow on restock, and it’s mostly a tourist attraction these days. I’ll go to kill time, but that’s about it.
Tower Records in #Shibuya, #Tokyo just opened a standing bar this weekend on its 6th floor, aka Tower Vinyl. Named Tower Beer, the bar serves imported selections and also offers its own original creations like “City Hop” and “Brit Hop” (see what they did dere?)

Was recently told that K-pop / J-pop group XG is better than the Cocteau Twins because, "the Cocteau Twins don't dance."

I feel that that clip should be shot into space to explain "Japanese TV" to distant lifeforms
File under “are you sure about that?”: A plan to revive pro-wrestling legend Antonio Inoki through AI is underway in #Japan, aiming to create a humanoid robot to carry on his message of “peace.” Developers say the android could be used for anti-bullying, fraud prevention, youth outreach, and more.
In #Japan, Book Off and Itochu are teaming up. Itochu will take a 5% stake and help expand Book Off overseas through its global network. They’re also exploring adding used-book buyback lockers at FamilyMart stores, making it easier to drop off items even in areas without a nearby Book Off.
